The S-Mets did not follow the script that so many are hoping for and reminded us that Cade Cavalli is a first-year pro, as they jumped on him for all five runs in a 5-3 win over the Red Wings. All five Syracuse runs came in Cavalli’s third and final inning, and all came with two outs. The sequence was single-walk-HBP-single-double-single before a strikeout ended the barrage. The Rochester bullpen did its part and shut down the Mets with four relievers combining for five scoreless innings. Jake Noll extended his modest hit streak to five games with two singles and drove in two while Daniel Palka singled, doubled, and walked to lead the Red Wings offense.

Harrisburg jumped out to another 4-0 lead but needed a pair of two-run rallies for, um, insurance against Hartford as they took this one, 8-3. Mario Sanchez pitched on three days’ rest and into the 6th, allowing one run on a homer and four hits total. He walked one and struck out three as he picked up his third win. K.J. Harrison, Gilbert Lara, and Ian Sagdal each drove in two runs as the Senators squeezed eight runs out of nine hits and four walks.

In the completion, the Blue Rocks were unable to get the strikeout, popup, or double play ball as a slow roller plated the go-ahead run in the top of the 10th. In the bottom of the 10th, Wilmington went down in order to lose, 10-9. The loss went to Todd Peterson, turning Mitchell Parker’s would-be win into a no-decision. Parker did throw a quality start, his first at High-A, allowing three runs on seven hits and a walk over six innings.

In the regularly scheduled game, Jersey Shore pitchers shut out Wilmington, 2-0 on six hits. Richard Gausch got the start but lasted just an inning and 2/3rds as he was lifted after 46 pitches, 27 in the second frame. Alex Troop stranded two while getting out of the second and went four more, but gave up two runs on a home run in the 4th and five hits total as he took the loss, his fifth. The Blue Rocks had but one RISP opportunity and made an out as they left on four and hit into three double plays.

The FCL Marlins limited the FCL Nats to just three hits as they beat the FCL Nats, 3-1. Aldo Ramirez took the loss with two runs (one earned) let in on two hits and two walks. Brady “He’s A Brick” House broke up both the no-hit and the shutout bid with an RBI double, hard enough to plate Raudy Read from 1st base. The FCL Nats got the tying runs into scoring position with one out but two whiffs sandwiched around a hit batsman ended the threat and the game.
