The Red Wings broke open a 0-0 game in the 5th (is there a term for that?) with a four-run outburst, then added three more in the 8th (same?) as they smelted the IronPigs, 7-2 to take a 3-1 series lead. Austin Voth pushed his “things to work on” to two innings this time out, allowing a hit and fanning two. The putative starter Ben Braymer came on next and threw a would-have-been quality start &ndashl two runs on a home run (#15) and two hits total over six innings. He walked one and struck out five while picking up his fifth win. Keibert Ruiz had his fifth multiple-hit game in the past six with two singles, as did longtime farmhands Nick Banks and Jake Noll as Rochester collected 11 hits total and went 5-for-12 with RISP.

Akron rallied for three in the 5th to overcome a 1-0 and held on for a 4-2 win over Harrisburg to tie the series at 2-2. Gerardo Carillo suffered his first loss in three starts since joining the Sens, giving up the aforementioned three runs on four hits and two walks while striking out four in four and 1/3rd innings. Carson Teel stranded two while getting out of the 5th and added two more zeroes before (the law firm of) Pearson McMahan gave up an insurance run in the 8th. Rhett Wiseman and Gage Canning both hit leadoff doubles and came around to score on two-out singles – Wiseman on Canning’s first hit in the 2nd; Canning in the 8th on Cole Freeman’s single, which was the fourth and final hit of the night for the Senators.

Yasel Antuna’s two-run HR in the 9th tied it at 3-3 to send this one into extras, but the Blue Rocks’ luck ran out in the 11th as the IronBirds rallied for two runs with two outs for a 6-5 win. Antuna’s 26th error with two outs and no one on was followed by a hit batsman. A wild pitch put the winning run at second and the tying run at third. Lamar Sparks delivered the walk-off win with a two-run single off Davis Moore, who had begun the frame with back-to-back backward K’s. Evan Lee started and gave up three runs on five hits (one HR) and two walks while fanning seven and hitting a batter. Alec Keller, Justin Connell, and Paul Witt each had two hits in the 12-hit parade for Wilmington.

The F-Nats got a rouge in the top of the first as Jordy Barley led off with a double, took third on a groundout to second, and scored on a high chopper. After that, it was ALL Shorebirds as they pounded five pitchers for 13 hits in a 17-1 demolition. Rodney Theophile joined current teammate Karlo Seijas (11L) and former teammate Mitchell Parker in the 10-loss club as he was charged with nine runs on five hits and four walks in an inning and a 1/3rd thrown. Fredericksburg pitchers would issue ten walks on the night. The exception would be Edward Urena, who blanked Delmarva for three innings with one hit, one Victor Robles, no walks, and three K’s. Jacob Young was the only other F-Nat to hit safely as he (and Boisserie) collected his first career hit while José Sánchez drew the only walk for the F-Nats.

Four FCL Nats combined to shut out the FCL Astros, 6-0 on two hits. Andry Lara walked two, hit two, and gave up a single in five innings to earn his third. Lucas Knowles put up two goose eggs for the hold while Pedro González didn’t give up a run for just the second time in 15 appearances, but did give up the other hit. Jose Ferrer issued a walk in the 9th but struck out the side to preserve the shutout. Daniel Marte led the hit column with three singles while Yoander Rivero singled, homered, drove in two, stole a base, and was caught stealing to pace the FCL Nats offense.
DSL Rockies vs. DSL Nationals – PPD
Just one game in the DSL was completed on Friday and it was not the one between the D-Rockies and the D-Nats. That was one of eight games that were postponed. They’ll make this one up next month on Monday, September 13th.
