The sunshine shifted from the Steve Cohen @ss of the S-Mets to the tailfeathers of the Red Wings, who rallied for five in the 8th to tie and walked off in the 9th for a 7-6 win that split the six-game series. Ben Braymer dug a 6-1 hole for Rochester with six runs let in on six hits (two HR) and three walks over five innings. The band got back together as the veteran quartet of Dakota Bacus, Kyle McGowin, Wander Suero, and Aaron Barrett each turned in a scoreless inning of relief, with Barrett picking up the win. Jake Noll and Jecksson Flores both singled, doubled, and drove in a run to lead the Red Wings’ offense. Roster moves: RHP Kyle McGowin assigned from Washington for MLB rehab.

The Harrisburg bullpen melted down in the 8th, turning a 4-2 lead into the eventual 9-4 loss. Newcomer Gerardo Carrillo and went the first five innings, giving up two runs on a homer and six hits total over while issuing two walks. He struck out two and threw two wild pitches in his Senators debut. The loss went to Frankie Bartow, who retired just one of five batters faced for his fifth loss. An “assist” goes to Jhon Romero who inherited three runners and sent them all home along with three runs of his own. Nick Banks led the Harrisburg hit column with three singles and added a walk, followed by two safeties each by Jackson Cluff, Brady Lindley, and Cole Freeman.

The Blue Rocks rallied for four in both the 5th and 6th innings as they cruised past the Hot Rods, 10-3 in the series finale. Evan Lee stretched out to three perfect innings in his second appearance since missing a turn in the rotation. He struck out six. Alex Troop got the “W” with two innings pitched, one unearned run on one hit, no walks, and one whiff. Armond Upshaw drove in two with a double and a single while Drew Mendoza smacked a two-run HR as Wilmington squeezed ten runs out of eight hits and seven walks.

Two Fredericksburg pitchers combined on a two-hit, 2-0 shutout of Fayetteville to finish the series 2-4. Rodney Theophile pitched six full innings for the first time in his career. Not only that, Skipper, they were scoreless as the 21-y.o. Nicaraguan allowed both Woodpeckers hits, one walk, and a Victor Robles. He struck out three while earning his second win. Tyler Yankosky earned his first save with three perfect innings in relief while setting down two on strikes. Jeremy De La Rosa hit his fourth homer while Joe Randa doubled with one out and Zach Cornell doubled with two out for the insurance run in the 9th.
FCL Nationals (11-15, 4th Place FCL East, 5½ GB)
For the second time in three weeks, the FCL Nats completed just two games, as two were suspended and one was postponed. They’ll complete one of the suspended games today in West Palm Beach (weather permitting), an off day on Tuesday, then (as of now) five games over four days at home with a twinbill on Friday morning.
DSL Nationals (10-9, T2nd place DSL South, 4GB)
The good news is that the D-Nats moved into a three-way tie for second place. The bad news is that they fell another game back off the pace set by the D-Rockies. It’s home and away against the D-Twins today and tomorrow, off Wednesday, then away and home against the D-Phillies Red on Thursday and Friday. Saturday is a one-off against the D-Astros at home.
