Rochester erased a 2-0 deficit with six unanswered runs to take the opener, 6-2. Josh Rogers tossed five innings of two-run ball on six hits (one HR) and a walk while striking out five for his sixth win as a Red Wing. Kyle McGowin set the side down in order in the 6th for his third hold while Ronald Peña worked around two hits in the 7th to close it out. Keibert Ruiz singled once doubled three times while Ali Castillo singled three times to lead Rochester’s 11-hit parade.

In the nightcap, the IronPigs erased deficits of 2-0 and 3-1 to force an extra inning, where they plated the free runner without a hit for a 4-3 win. Sterling Sharp failed to get to the 5th for the third straight start, allowing two runs on two hits (one HR) and a walk over three and 2/3rds innings. He struck out four. Aaron Barrett was charged with the loss after a grounder to the right side moved the runner to third and a sac fly drove him in. Brandon Snyder singled and homered while Donovan Casey singled twice and stole a base to account for four of the ten Red Wings hits, of which just two came in 13 RISP chances.

The Senators’ modest four-game win streak ended with an 11-2 quackdown by the RubberDucks. Tim Cate lost for the fifth straight start and failed to go five innings for the seventh time. He was bitten for two runs on four hits (one HR) and a walk over two and 2/3rds innings. He did not strike out a batter for the second consecutive outing. All of this was moot as the Harrisburg offense was held to two singles, one apiece by Jake Alu and Jacob Rhinesmith, and Alu’s 5th HR at AA (tenth overall).

If the Wilmington ballplayers are walking kind of funny, it’s because they keep getting lucky. Also, they’ve won eight in a row, including last night’s 8-7 contest where they gave up three runs in the bottom of the 9th. Seth Shuman fell one out short of getting the win as he gave up two runs on four hits (one HR) and a walk while striking out six. Alex Troop stranded two while getting out of the 5th but gave up two runs in the 7th, which was still good enough for his eighth win. Likewise, Francys Peguero hit a batter and walked two, then sent them home on a double. Todd Peterson gave up a sac fly for the final Aberdeen run and ended the comeback bid with a lineout to second. Yasel Antuna drove in five with and scored twice while hitting his 10th HR while Justin Connell singled twice and doubled once to lead the Blue Rocks offense.

Fredericksburg rallied from an 8-2 deficit and actually led 9-8 before Delmarva recovered and won it in the 8th, 11-9. Gilberto Chu got knocked from the box in the 4th with five runs (three earned) on three hits, four walks, and a Victor Robles. He struck out one. Carlos Romero dug the hole three runs deeper before Tyler Yankosky settled things down with two scoreless. The F-Nats sent nine men to the plate in the 7th and six of them came around to score. Jeremy De La Rosa’s two-out RBI single gave Fredericksburg the lead, but Tomás Alastre ended his streak of six straight outings without giving up a run with three let in on three hits and a walk for his second blown save and second loss. Viandel Peña, Junior Martina, and Onix Vega combined for six hits, including three doubles, three runs, two walks, and four RBI. Roster moves: 2B Viandel Peña activated from 7-Day I.L.

The FCL Cards jumped on the FCL Nats and Cole Henry for five runs in the first and cruised to an 11-3 win. Henry struck out four, walked one, hit a batter, and gave up two hits. A passed ball and an error on a dropped third strike rendered two of the five runs unearned. The Nats scored twice on groundouts as they racked up eight hits, with just two batters reaching base multiple times – Darren Baker (1B, BB) and Jackson Coutts (3BB).

Fourth Rd. pick Dustin Saenz got the start and gave up a run on two hits over two innings. He walked none and fanned four. Orlando Ribalta let in the tying run for his first blown save of 2021 while Miguel Gomez gave up a solo HR in his third inning of work to lose for the second time. Yoander Rivero went 2-for-3 with a walk and an RBI while Andry Arias homered in four trips to the plate. The rest of the lineup went 1-for-16.
