Blake Swihart’s grand slam in 3rd proved to be enough for the Red Wings pitchers to work with as Rochester edged Buffalo, 4-3 to stop a two-game slide. Sterling Sharp turned in his third quality start with two runs let in on four hits and two walks. He struck out a season-high of eight while earning his third AAA win. Swihart also singled, as did Andrew Stevenson (twice) and Carlos Tocci (twice) as the Red Wings collected seven hits and two walks total. Roster moves: RHP Andres Machado optioned from Washington.

Harrisburg got six scoreless innings from Mario Sanchez and crooked numbers in multiple innings (Wait. What?) from the batters in a 6-1 win over Reading, stopping a three-game slide. Sanchez gave up just two hits and no walks while winning for just the second time this season. Meanwhile, Nick Banks doubled in two to highlight a three-run 3rd, and Jake Alu connected for a two-run shot in the 8th for his first AA homer to lead the ten-hit parade.

The Blue Rocks blew a 4-3 lead and overcame an 8-4 deficit, but fell in extras, 10-9. Evan Lee hit a wall in the 5th as the BlueClaws got to him for five in the frame and eight runs total over four and a 1/3rd innings on nine hits, including two HRs. He walked one, struck out three, and hit two batters. Zach Brzykcy settled things down by eight of the next nine batters, including four whiffs, making the comeback possible. Wilmington got two in the 6th on a Justin Connell RBI triple and a Jake Arruda RBI single. Andrew Pratt’s fifth HR tied things up at 8-8. Reid Schaller let in the free runner not once but twice on one-out singles for the blown-save-loss, third of each for the 24-y.o. Vanderbilt product.

The Blue Rocks got four in the 5th to eat into a 6-0 lead but couldn’t get any closer as they dropped the nightcap, 6-4, and their fourth straight loss overall. Jordan Bocko took the brunt of the beating—and the loss, natch—giving up five runs on six hits (one HR) over three innings while striking out four. Jacob Rhinesmith singled twice and walked once while Yasel Antuna went 2-for-3 with a two-run single to pace the Wilmington offense.

Fredericksburg fell behind 10-0 after four innings but rallied for four in the 5th, three in the 6th, two in the 8th to get within two, but couldn’t score in the 9th as they dropped Game Two, 11-9. Karlo Seijas threw in-game BP for two innings, allowing seven runs on seven hits and a walk. He struck out while losing for the seventh time. Ricardo Méndez and Junior Martina both smacked two-run homers and were two of five F-Nats to have multiple hits in the 15-hit, four-walk offensive effort.

Bernardo Hiraldo no-hit the FCL Marlins for five innings despite long stretches of sitting as his teammates scored eight runs for him in an 11-2 harpooning of the FCL Marlins. Hiraldo walked two, struck out two, and hit a batter while earning his first stateside win. Raymi Gomez singled once, scored twice, and drove in three with his first HR of the season. Andry Arias (2-for-4) and Leandro Emiliani (2-for-3) both drove in two to lead the 14-hit, eight-walk attack.
