OFF DAY

Scranton/Wilkes-Barre 4 Rochester 1
• Nolin (L, 3-3) 4⅔ IP, 5H, 3R, 3ER, 3BB, 3K, 2HR, HBP
• Moreno 1⅓ IP, 0H, 0R, BB, 2K
• Noll 2-4
• A. Castillo 1-3, R, 2B

Scranton/Wilkes Barre homered twice in the early inning to build a 3-0 lead and held on for a 4-1 win over Rochester. Sean Nolin gave up both longballs and five hits total as he lost for the third time in eight starts. The Red Wings narrowly avoided a shutout as Ali Castillo took third after Alex Dunlap was thrown out trying to score from first on Castillo’s double. Rochester managed just five hits total, with Jake Noll leading the way with two singles. Roster moves: IF Carter Kieboom recalled to Washington.

• Cavalli 6IP, 5H, 1R, 0ER, 2BB, 7K,
• McMahan (L, 4-3) 2+ IP, 2H, 2R, 2ER, 2BB, 0K, HR, HBP, 3-1 IR-S
• Lara 1-4, 2B, 3RBI
• Corredor 1-3

The Senators rallied for two in the top of the 9th to tie it at 4-4 but gave it back on a two-run walkoff HR for a 6-4 loss. Cade Cavalli turned in his best outing at AA with six innings of one (unearned) run ball on five hits and two walks while striking out seven. He left with a 2-1 lead and got the no-decision when Ryan Tapani faced five batters and put all five on base during a three-run 7th. The loss went to (the law firm of) Pearson McMahan, who let in one inherited runner while getting out of the 7th, pitched a scoreless 8th, and gave up a single and a homer in the 9th. Harrisburg squeezed four runs out of five hits and two walks.

Brooklyn 8 Wilmington 3
• Adon (L, 3-4) 3IP, 5H, 6R, 6ER, 2BB, 4K, HR
• Brzykcy 3IP, 0H, 0R, BB, 4K
• Connell 1-3, HR, BB, 2RBI
• Dunn 1-3, R, SB

Brooklyn got three-spots in both the 2nd and 3rd innings to build a 6-1 lead as the Cyclones blew past Wilmington, 8-3 to extend the Blue Rocks’ losing streak to eight games. Joan Adon lost for the third time in four starts with the aforementioned six runs allowed on five hits (one HR) and two walks over three innings. Justin Connell’s two-run HR in the 9th masked another subpar offensive night of four hits, none in six chances with runners in scoring position. Roster moves: OF Cody Wilson placed on the 7-Day I.L.

Fredericksburg 18 Salem 6
• Seijas (W, 3-8) 5IP, 5H, 3R, 2ER, 3BB, 3K, WP
• Urena 1IP, 1H, 0R, 0BB, 0K
• Méndez 4-5, 4R, 2B, 2RBI
• Jo. Sánchez 3-5, 3R, 2B, BB, 5RBI
• Cornell 3-5, 4R, BB
• Randa 3-5, R, 2-2B, BB, 3RBI

The decision to go for two after the first touchdown was forgotten by the middle innings as the F-Nats pummeled the S-Sox, 18-6. Karlo Seijas turned in a pedestrian effort of three runs on five hits and three walks but still won his third game. A 23-hit assault easily covered the (usual) in-game BP from Bryan Peña, who ended his 2021 clean outing streak at one with three runs over three innings. Ricardo Méndez led the Fredericksburg hit column with three singles and a double while José Sánchez drove in five while also reaching base four times.

FCL Nationals 4 FCL Marlins 2
• Hiraldo 2IP, 3H, 0R, 0BB, 3K
• Otanez (W, 1-0) 2IP, 4H, 2R, 2ER, 0BB, 1K, 2WP

• Marte 2-3, 2R, HR, 3RBI, BB, 3SB
• G. Díaz 1-3, 2B, BB

Daniel Marte’s three-run HR in the 5th erased a 2-0 deficit as the FCL Nats doubled up the FCL Marlins, 4-2. Bernardo Hiraldo got the start and tossed two scoreless innings. Johan Otanez was credited with the win despite giving up both FCL Marlins runs on four hits. Jose A. Ferrer tossed two scoreless to finish up and earn his second save. Marte also singled, walked, and stole three bases while the rest of the lineup went 2-for-28 with two walks and 11 strikeouts.
