Lehigh Valley broke open a 1-1 game with two in the top of the 8th. Rochester could only get one run back in the bottom of the 8th and went in order in the last of the 9th for a 3-2 loss. Free-agent pickup Matt Tomshaw turned in a quality start with six innings of one-run ball on a solo HR and five hits total. The loss went to Nick Wells, who issued a leadoff walk to start the 8th, got his one and only out on a sacrifice, then gave up a triple and a single. Aaron Barrett finished the 8th with a double play and retired the side in order in the 9th. Jecksson Flores singled once, doubled twice, and scored the final Red Wings run in the 8th. Jake Noll’s 10th longball accounted for the only run as Rochester was an abysmal 1-for-11 with RISP and left on 12 baserunners.

Joan Adon went the first five innings and gave up four runs on four hits (one HR) and a walk while hitting two batters. He struck out four in his seventh no-decision. Soap opera villain Jordan Bocko tossed two scoreless as the first man out of the ‘pen and Davis Moore added a third zero before giving up a run in the 9th but picked up the “W.” Justin Connell’s third HR highlighted the 9th-inning outburst and was 3-for-5 overall, with Yasel Antuna also going deep to pace the Blue Rocks offense. No such luck for the F-Nats as three in the 9th was four runs short for a 7-3 loss to the Shorebirds. Opening Day starter Karlo Seijas made his minors-leading 16th start and let in four runs on six hits and a walk over five innings. It was his 9th loss, tying him with former teammate Mitchell Parker. Bryan Peña dug the hole three runs deeper in two innings before Tomás Alastre put up two goose eggs to finish the game. Junior Martina singled twice and scored in the 9th on an Onix Vega RBI single, which was the one (1) hit in eight RISP chances for Fredericksburg. He walked three and struck out five. Andry Arias reached four times with a walk, two singles, and a double while Jackson Coutts doubled once and singled twice to lead the FCL Nats’ 11-hit, 12-walk, five-steal offense.
