Rochester bounced back from being no-hit to nearly returning the favor as five pitchers combined to shut out Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on three hits, 9-0. Ben Braymer gave up one hit (not a HR!) and two walks over five innings for his second win and first since May 23. He struck out five. Nick Wells, Javy Guerra, Aaron Barrett, and Gabe Klobosits each put up a goose egg in relief. Brandon Snyder homered twice and drove in five while Daniel Palka had four singles in five trips to the plate to lead the Red Wings’ 13-hit parade.

The Senators broke up the Star Trek convention on the Hadlock Field scoreboard with the game’s only run for a 1-0 shutout of the Sea Dogs. Luis Reyes worked around seven baserunners in seven innings for just his second no-decision in 13 starts. (The law firm of) Pearson McMahan retired all six batters he faced while finishing the game for his fourth win. Jackson Cluff led off the 9th with a bunt single, took third on an errant throw by the Portland pitcher after he stopped a Nick Banks grounder with his leg, and scored on a Cole Freeman line drive that went off the glove of the third baseman, who was drawn in to prevent a suicide squeeze. Harrisburg finished with eight hits, with two apiece by Cluff, Allan Berríos, and Jake Alu.

Wilmington’s losing streak was extended to six games with a 10-2 [HR deleted]-slapping by Brooklyn, 10-2. Alex Troop lost for the fourth time (versus zero wins) in seven starts with five runs let in (three earned) ten hits (2HR) over five innings. The 25-y.o. southpaw walked none and struck out six while raising his ERA as a starter to 5.73 (vs. 1.59 in relief). Armond Upshaw broke up the shutout with a two-run triple in the 8th for the fifth of six hits on the night for the Blue Rocks.

The S-Sox posted a picket fence in the first three innings and made it stand up for a 3-2 win over the F-Nats. Rodney Theophile lost for the seventh time with three runs given up (two earned ) on five hits and six walks. The defense did its part with three double plays, but the offense did not as they got just two runners on base—and neither into scoring position—after pulling within one with Geraldi Diaz’s RBI double in the 4th. Kevin Strohschein accounted for the other run with his seventh longball in the 2nd inning.

Inclement weather halted play for a second straight day as the FCL Astros had pulled ahead of the FCL Nats for a 4-3 lead with one out and two on in the Top of the 5th. They’ll make it up next week when the two teams meet next Wednesday, probably in W. Palm Beach.
