The Bisons batters made Tyler Eppler their “pitcher of the week” as they pwned him for six homers and ten runs in a 14-1 demolition of the Red Wings. Eppler had but one clean inning over four and 2/3rds as Buffalo stampeded him for ten hits total and drew two walks to hand him his fourth loss. Neither Bryan Bonnell nor Brandon Snyder was much less ineffective as the two gave up four runs combined over the last four and 1/3rd innings. Jake Noll singled in Daniel Palka in the 5th to prevent the shutout as Rochester was held to seven hits and three walks. Roster moves: LHP Sean Nolin activated from the 7-Day I.L.; RHP Josh Miller selected, recalled by Washington; RHP Rogelio Armenteros designated for assignment.

Only once did Harrisburg fail to answer in the bottom of the inning when Reading scored in the top. Unfortunately, that inning was the 10th, resulting in a 9-8 loss. Carson Teel was manhandled for the third time in four starts, giving up eight runs on ten hits, including three homers. He walked three and struck out three in the no-decision. The loss went to Frankie Bartow on a leadoff single in the 10th, scoring the free runner for an unearned run. Jakson Reetz homered for the second time in three games and went 2-for-4 with a walk and two RBI. Cole Freeman and Corban Joseph also went deep as the Senators racked up 10 hits to raise their team BA to a season-high .193 (H/T Terry Byrom, Sens PR) Roster moves: RHP Cade Cavalli, LHP Matt Cronin promoted from Wilmington; LHP Tim Cate placed on 7-Day Developmental List.

Alfonso Hernández’s High-A debut was six strong innings of one-run ball. Unfortunately, that was only good enough to not lose as the Cyclones got to reliever Zach Brzykcy for the final two runs for a 3-1 win over the Blue Rocks. Hernández struck out eight while giving up four hits and a walk. Brzykcy walked the leadoff batter and, after a failed sacrifice, gave up a triple for the go-ahead run and saw the insurance run score on a fielder’s choice. Wilmington managed just five baserunners, with Israel Pineda doubling to lead off the 2nd, advancing to third on a groundout, and scoring on an infield single.

If you scrolled this far down hoping for some beacon of hope, you’ve found it. Junior Martina’s two-out single in the bottom of the 9th gave Fredericksburg its first walkoff win of the season, 3-2. Micahel Cuevas got the start and went the first four innings, allowing an unearned run on four hits, three walks, and a Victor Robles. He struck out two. Troy Stainbrook tossed three scoreless innings of relief and was in a position to win when newcomer Davis Moore gave up the go-ahead run on two singles and two sacrifices in the 9th.
The F-Nats loaded the bases in the 9th on a José Sánchez one-out single and two walks, one intentional to Jeremy De La Rosa after a wild pitch sent Sánchez to 3rd, the other unintentional to Cole Daily. Jake Boone was put in as a pinch-runner (perhaps to maximize the chances of scoring on another wild pitch) and Martina delivered an opposite-field liner that Lynchburg’s Alexfri Planaza dove for and came up Jose Vidro (just short).
