Rochester was unable to score without the longball in a 4-2 loss to Lehigh Valley. Sterling Sharp turned in a quality start (his first at AAA, third overall) with three runs allowed on six hits and a walk. He struck out one while taking the loss. Jake Noll and Brandon Snyder hit back-to-back homers in the 4th to give the Red Wings a brief 2-0 lead. Rochester would get the tying runs on in the top of the 6th with one down and the top of the 8th with two down but made three outs with no one making it to third base. Roster moves: RHP Ryne Harper recalled to Washington.

Mario Sanchez suffered the same fate as Sharp: A quality start rewarded with a loss as the Sens were shut out for the 7th time in 30 games, 4-0. Sanchez fanned a season-best nine while issuing just one walk, but gave up two runs on four hits over six innings. It was his third quality start and fourth loss. Corban Joseph singled twice while Jakson Reetz doubled once. Harrisburg managed just seven hits overall, none with runners in scoring position as they left on eight basreunners.
Wilmington vs. Jersey Shore – PPD
Wilmington was washed out for the third time in six days. They’ll shoot to make it up with two tonight in Lakewood, NJ. Roster moves: 3B Manuel Geraldo reassigned from Harrisburg.

A double error (P, 1B) on a pickoff attempt at first base in the 3rd led to the first, unearned run for Salem. It would prove to be the difference, as the F-Nats got two in the top of the 6th for a brief, 2-1 lead. The Red Sox got ’em back in the bottom of the 7th for a 3-2 win in the series opener. Karlo Seijas pitched into the 7th for the second time this season but gave up all three Salem runs on five hits and two walks for his third loss. Davis Moore got the last four outs without a runner reaching base to give Fredericksburg a chance, which came in the 9th. J.T. Arruda led off with a walk and stole second while Onix Vega struck out. Arruda would watch Jackson Coutts fly out to left for the second out and was running to third when Viandel Peña’s shot up the middle was deflected by the pitcher and slowed down enough for the Salem shortstop to gun down his counterpart for the final out.
