Sterling Sharp was charged with three runs (one earned) on four hits and two walks but struck out six to secure his first AAA win. The Red Wings went deep five times, with Daniel Palka going deep twice, and Humerberto Arteaga, Luis García, and Brandon Snyder leaving the yard once. Mario Sanchez won for the first time in ’21 as he went five and 2/3rds with four runs let in on six hits (one HR) and two walks. The 26-y.o. Venezuelan struck out four while pitching into the 6th for the third time in six starts. Cole Freeman went Rickey Henderson to lead off the game and threw a runner out at the plate during Portland’s four-run rally in the 5th to preserve a 5-4 lead. Tyler Dyson took the loss with four runs allowed on three hits (one HR) and three walks over four innings. The Florida man walked three and struck out six. Jordan Bocko was roughed up in his High-A debut, giving up the last four runs on five hits and two home runs. Jake Alu and Jacob Rhinesmith both reached base three times and stole a base, too, but the Blue Rocks connected for just one hit in seven scoring chances and left 13 runners on base. Seijas put in five bullpen-saving innings with six runs allowed on eight hits (two HR) and one walk while fanning four. Delmarva tapped Leif Strom for the last three runs in his third inning of work while Tomás Alastre notched his first clean outing with a scoreless 9th. Junior Martina singled twice and Jake Randa once to account for all three hits for Fredericksburg. Viandel Peña walked in the 1st, took third on an unnecessary throw to second (it was ball four), and scored on a Telmito Agustin GIDP for the lone F-Nats run.
