Gerardo Parra’s grand slam in the 9th snapped a 3-3 tie and gave the Red Wings a 7-3 win. Sterling Sharp turned in a quality start with all three Iron Pigs runs allowed on three hits and two walks for his second no-decision in four AAA starts. The win went to T.J. McFarland as he retired all six batters he faced in the 7th and 8th innings. Tres Barrera also homered and walked twice while veterans Daniel Palka and Brandon Snyder both went 2-for-4 on the afternoon to lead the Rochester attack. Roster moves: RHP Andrés Machado optioned from Washington.

Harrisburg couldn’t hold an early 2-0 lead for Mario Sanchez but scored the free runner in the 10th for a 3-2 win over Richmond. Sanchez somehow only gave up a run on three hits and a walk despite hitting two batters and throwing three wild pitches. Nick Wells lost the lead with a run in the 8th but was bailed out by Pearson McMahan, who stranded two inherited runners while getting out of the 8th and two of his own in the 9th. McMahan would pick up the “W,” his first of the season. Aldrem Corredor took back the team lead in RBI with three, including a single in the 10th to plate the game-winner. Cole Freeman also reached base three times with a double in the 1st, a walk in the 3rd, and a single in the 8th as the Senator offense racked up nine hits and two walks total.

The Blue Claws put the pinch on the Blue Rocks for six runs in the 6th en route to an 8-1 win in the series finale. Evan Lee went the first four innings and gave up one run on one hit and three walks while striking out four. After a scoreless 5th, Andrew Karp was filleted in the 6th for six runs (three earned) on four hits as the defense committed two errors, and Karp’s successor—Francys Peguero—threw a wild pitch. Manuel Geraldo and Brady Lindsly each collected two singles to lead Wilmington’s eight-hit, one-walk offense. Roster moves: RHP Tyler Dyson placed on the 7-Day I.L.

For all its foibles and miscues in 2021, Fredericksburg had somehow managed to score at least once in every game this season. That changed on Sunday when three Salem pitchers combined on a five-hit shutout, 5-0 to earn a series split. Karlo Seijas lost for the fourth time as he let in four runs (three runs) on seven hits and two walks over five innings. He struck out five. Three times the F-Nats got a runner into scoring position with nobody out, including a triple by J.T. Arruda in the 5th and a double by Telmito Agustin in the 9th. The other missed opportunity came in the 6th, when Agustin reached second with two out after getting on base with a single. Fredericksburg tallied five hits and one walk total.
