The Red Wings were playing as the Plates yesterday afternoon and the Bisons had them for lunch, 5-2. Ben Braymer got the start and labored through three and 2/3rds innings, giving up two runs on three hits (including the usual HR) and two walks while fanning two. He needed 73 pitches to get 11 outs, 40 of which were strikes. Alec Keller, Jake Noll, and Carter Keiboom combined for six of the eight Rochester hits, with Keller going deep for the second time in 2021 while Kieboom both singled and doubled. The Plates came up empty at the dish with in five RISP chances and left on eight. Roster moves: LHP Nick Wells reassigned from Harrisburg.

• J. Romero 2IP, 0H, 0R, 0BB, 2K
• Freeman 2-4, OF assist @ HP
• Corredor 2-4, RBI

Harrisburg’s hitting woes returned as they barely avoided the shutout in a 2-1 loss to Reading. Luis Reyes turned in his best outing of the year: six innings of one-run ball on seven hits and a walk while striking out seven. He was rewarded with his fourth loss. Cole Freeman and Aldrem Corredor both went 2-for-4. The rest of the lineup went 2-for-24. Corredor’s 9th inning single plated Jakson Reetz, who had taken second base on defensive indifference with two outs.

Lynchburg 5 Fredericksburg 3
• Knowles 1IP, 1H, 0R, 1BB, 1K
• Merrill (L, 0-1) 2IP, 3H, 2R, 2ER, 0BB, 4K, HR
• Alastre 3⅔ IP, 4H, R, ER, 2BB, 4K, HR
• Daily 1-2, 2R, 2BB
• Randa 1-4, 2RBI

Fredericksburg was outhit 10-3, but two of those ten were longballs and turned out to be the difference in a 5-3 loss to Lynchburg. F-Nats starter Lucas Knowles got the start but went just one inning, allowing hit and a walk with one whiff. Matt Merrill made his first professional appearance since 2017 but was knocked for two runs on three hits and the first Hillcats HR to take the loss. The F-Nats took advantage of four walks, a wild pitch, and an error to squeeze three runs out of three hits. Cole Daily singled once, walked twice, and scored twice – the second time ahead of Jake Randa’s two-run single in the 8th.
