With a pair of two-spots in the 2nd and 3rd innings, Rochester won back-to-back games for the third time this month as they edged Lehigh Valley, 4-3. Rogelio Armenteros failed to go five innings for the fourth time in seven starts, sent packing after 85 pitches and four innings. He let in two runs on five hits and three walks while striking out five for the no-decision. The win was given to Alberto Baldonado for pitching a scoreless 5th. With one out in the 9th, Justin Miller issued a walk, gave up a single, then threw a wild pitch to put the tying and winning runs in scoring position but cordero’d out of the jam with pair of strikeouts to earn the save, his fifth. Brandon Snyder smacked his sixth HR in the 3rd for what proved to be the game-winner as both he and Cody Wilson went 2-for-4. The Red Wings squeezed four runs out of five hits and five walks by going 2-for-3 with RISP, the out being an Armenteros sac fly. Roster moves: RHP Joan Baez placed on the 7-Day I.L.

The Senators were done after one after the Flying Squirrels scored four but Richmond took no chances and scored four more in the 3rd en route to an 8-1 win. Carson Teel gave all eight runs on seven hits (two HR) over two and 1/3 innings as he lost for the third time. He walked one and struck out three. Jakson Reetz doubled for the eighth time in 21 games and scored on a Drew Mendoza sac fly to prevent the shutout. Harrisburg managed just five hits total.

Richmond took the nightcap, 1-0 in a game shortened by the rain to one out beyond the minimum. It’s the eighth shutout for Harrisburg this season. Andrew Lee gave up the lone run on two hits and two walks over four innings. He set down five on strikes while taking his second loss. Aldrem Corredor singled twice and was the only Senator to reach base.

Neither team was able to score in the continuation of Wednesday’s suspended game, with the 1-0 score standing up as the final for a Blue Claws win. Evan Lee was charged with his second loss for giving up that run on three hits in the one inning pitched before rains came. Alex Troop and Zach “Can I Get A Vowel” Brzykcy combined for five shutout innings of relief. Armond Upshaw, Kyle Marinconz, Jake Alu, and Justin Connell each went 1-for-3 to comprise the Wilmington offense.

Jacob Rhinesmith’s fourth HR capped off a three-run 5th in a 6-3 win for Wilmington to split the doubleheader. Tyler Dyson started but was knocked from the box with two out in the 4th after Jersey Shore tanned him for two runs. He gave up four hits, a walk, and struck out three. The win went to Reid Schaller as he rolled a double play to bail out Chris “Chevy” Vann, who let in third BLue Claws run without giving up a hit. Matt Cronin was credited with the last out of the 6th when Jersey Shore decided to steal with two outs and down two. The southpaw racked up his third save and struck out his obligatory two batters in the 7th.

On paper, the F-Nats were sloppier than the Red Sox on defense, with three errors to none. But in the 10th, a dropped throw at the plate, an overthrow from the outfield, and a wild pitch enabled Fredericksburg to score three times on just one hit for a 7-4 win in extras. Bryan Peña came up one out and one run short of a quality start, with all four Salem runs charged to him on four hits and four walks. He struck out five in the no-decision. Amos Willingham let in one of two inherited runners in the 6th to “earn” the blown save but was the pitcher of record when the F-Nats took the lead. Tanner Driskill set the side down in order in the last of the 10th for his second save. José Sánchez and Telmito Agustin both singled and doubled, while Cole Daily got his first double, which drove in two to highlight a four-run 4th.
