Veteran pitchers Raynel Espinal outdueled Tyler Eppler as the Red Wings fell to the Red Sox, 3-1. Eppler lost for the third time, with all three Worcester runs allowed on six hits (one HR) and one walk while striking out one. As usual, the Rochester bullpen did its part and kept things close with goose eggs from Kyle Lobstein and Ronald Peña. And, as usual, the offense did not – barely avoiding a shutout with a run in the 9th and just five hits (all singles) and five walks.

Portland got all the offense it would need with a run in the 1st as Harrisburg was shut out for the fifth time this season, 7-0. Ryan Tapani was serviceable in his spot start, with one run let in on four hits but no walks or strikeouts. He was rewarded with his first “L.” The Senators were held to just five hits and two walks and went 0-for-8 with RISP and left on seven baserunners. Roster moves: 1B/3B Ian Sagdal placed on 7-Day I.L.; IF Manuel Geraldo reassigned from Wilmington.

Fredericksburg ran wild as they won their sixth game by a 6-2 score over Delmarva. Shorebirds catcher Jordan Cannon did not live up to his surname as the F-Nats were 9-for-9 in steals, with every batter in the hit column swiping at least one base. Alfonso Hernández evened up his won-loss record with five innings of one-run ball, with three hits and two walks allowed and four strikeouts. Ricardo Méndez singled twice, drove in two, and stole two to lead the hit column while Geraldi Diaz led the walk column with two and also collected a single and a stolen base.
