The Red Wings held an early 2-0 lead but couldn’t extend it as the RailRiders chipped away and took the matinee, 3-2. Rogelio Armenteros somehow managed to give up just two runs despite walking six over four innings. He allowed two hits (one HR) and struck four. The loss went to Dakota Bacus on a pair of singles sandwiched around a steal of second in the 7th. Daniel Palka doubled in both Rochester runs in the first and singled in the 8th. Yasmany Tomás collected the third hit of three with one out in the 3rd. The Red Wings drew eight walks but cashed in just one of them on the Palka double.

Rhett Wiseman’s two-out, two-run HR in the 7th stood up as three Sens pitchers combined to flatten the Curve on four hits, 2-0. Sterling Sharp led the way with six shutout innings for his second straight quality start. He gave up three hits and a walk while fanning five. Alberto Baldonado struck out six of the seven batters he faced, allowing the fourth and final hit in the 8th to pick up his second win of the season. Frankie Bartow worked around a walk in the 9th to earn his third save. Harrisburg got three singles and three walks beside the Wiseman homer, with Osvaldo Duarte (1B, BB) and Drew Mendoza (2BB) both reaching base twice.

The Blue Rocks took another extra-innings affair, 5-4 to return to .500 (7-7). Cole Henry went the first five innings and struck out eight, but hit two batters, balked two runners, and walked another. He allowed the first IronBirds run on three hits. Matt Cronin blew the save by giving up a run in the 8th but got credit for the win when Jacob Rhinesmith drove in the free runner in the top of the 10th. Rhinesmith also doubled and walked as Wilmington squeezed five runs out of seven hits and three walks. Wilmington relievers have six of the team’s seven wins and only one of its losses.

Salem got three in the 2nd and it would be enough to send Fredericksburg to its 14th straight loss, 5-2 – the first loss by fewer than four runs. Mitchell Parker lost for the second time in three starts but went five innings, giving up the aforementioned three runs on five hits and a walk striking out six. Junior Martina got off the Interstate with two singles, a double, and a walk to raise his BA to .207, which includes an 0-for-17 start.
