Luis García’s two-run HR with one out in the 9th gave Rochester a 5-3 walkoff win. It was the third HR of the night as all five Red Wings runs came via the long ball, with Daniel Palka smacking a two-run HR in the 5th to tie it, and Brandon Snyder homering in the 2nd. Jefry Rodriguez got the start but was knocked out in the 4th, giving up all three Scranton/Wilkes-Barre runs on five hits and a walk. The Red Wings bullpen combined for five and 2/3rds scoreless innings of relief and 12 whiffs, with the win going to Justin Miller as he struck out the side in the 9th.

The Sens were able to get ’em on with nine hits and three walks. Getting ’em in? Not so much. Altoona took Game 3 of the series, 5-2. Luis Reyes started and pitched into the 6th but gave up three runs on six hits and three walks as he was charged for his second loss. Humberto Arteaga singled once and doubled twice to reach base three times as did Jakson Reetz with a walk and two singles. Harrisburg left on 11 baserunners with just one hit in 15 RISP chances.

Evan Lee and Tyler Dyson combined on a seven-hit shutout of Aberdeen, 7-0 to push Wilmington over .500 for the first time this season. Lee ran out of gas in the 5th, as he fell one out short of earning the win as he allowed the first four hits and two walks while striking out nine. Tyler Dyson went the rest of the way, giving up three hits, no walks and striking out five. Jacob Rhinesmith led the Blue Rocks’ hit parade with four singles and three RBI, followed by Kyle Marinconz with two singles, and Omar Meregildo, who doubled, homered, and drove in two. Roster moves: RHP Todd Peterson placed on the 7-Day I.L.

The F-Nats avoided the shutout but not the loss in another defenestration, 14-1 at the hands of the Red Sox. Rodney Theophile got the start and his second loss and he went the first four innings and allowed four runs on five hits and four walks while striking out three. Troy Stainbrook, a 30th Rd. pick from 2019, mopped up with the last five outs on one hit with nary a walk nor a strikeout. Landon Dietrich broke up the perfect game with a walk in the 2nd and the no-hitter with a single to lead off the 7th. A Joe Randa single, a wild pitch, and an error put runners in scoring position for Junior Martina, who grounded out to plate the sole Fredericksburg run in the 8th.
