Cards Double Up Nats, 4-2

Ryan Zimmerman’s two-run, first-inning HR was not enough for the pitchers to work with as the Nats dropped a second straight, 4-2 to the Cards, to fall to .500 for the spring.

Max Scherzer needed just 58 pitches to rack up 12 outs in his third ST start. He gave up two hits, no walks, and struck out seven over four scoreless innings.

Austin Voth’s option status is his best asset right now as he was knocked around for the second time in four outings, letting in three runs on six hits and two walks over 1⅔ IP for the blown-save-loss.

Todd Peterson made his second appearance with another mop-up job, getting the last out of the 5th.

Here’s how the rest of the watchlisters and notables did:

Washington returns to West Palm Beach to host Miami for a 6:05 p.m. start. Patrick Corbin is set to make his third ST start opposite Trevor Rogers. The game can be heard (very) locally on 980AM.
