Catching Up on Transactions

The horses finally made it through the last pass and arrived at the offices of Baseball America in the Old North State, delivering the edicts from New Amst…er, York on the bonding and de-bonding of the necessary evils, a.k.a. players. It’s only been eight weeks since the last missive.

Most of these players are candidates for either a release at the end of spring training or a trip to Rochester or Harrisburg, possibly even this summer. The exception is young Kevin Moreno, for whom there is little to be found aside from his stats and a few mentions in passing at thecubreporter.com.

All kidding aside, the snark you may infer from the “this” refers to the MLBPA’s rejection of the MLB proposal to delay the start of 2021. Yes, this is a minors site, but one thing we believe that we “know” is that MLB intends to do spring training in phases. So a delay to the big boys means a delay for “our guys” and a delay to the start of the 2021 minors, which was already estimated to be sometime in May.
