With three-spots in 2nd and 5th and a four-spot in the 6th, St. Louis defenestrated the Nats moundsmen en route to an 11-0 whitewashing last night in West Palm Beach.
Patrick Corbin took the loss with three runs let in on four hits (one HR) and a walk, though he did strike out five. Sean Doolittle and Daniel Hudson, expected to anchor the 8th and 9th innings this summer, were rocked for a combined seven runs on seven hits while getting four outs.
Carter Kieboom got the start at third base again but was hitless in two at-bats.
Other notable minor-leaguers to appear in the game:
- Luis Garcia took for SS from Trea Turner and went 1-for-2
- Yadiel Hernandez pinch-hit for DH Ryan Zimmerman and singled in his sole PA
- Jake Noll subbed for Howie Kendrick at 1B and grounded into a double play in the 8th
- Jhonatan German pitched a 1-2-3 ninth, striking out one
The loss drops Washington to 4-7 for the 2020 Grapefruit League.
