Mario wasn’t super, the bullpen was, but the Senators offense was unable to dig out from a 7-1 hole after four innings and lost Game Three of the WDCS to the BaySox, 7-5.
Sanchez was strafed for six runs on seven hits, with five runs let in on two HRs (nos. 22 and 22 this year) over three innings. He walked two and struck out one.
Harrisburg’s ‘pen pitched six innings of one-run ball, led by Bryan Bonnell (3IP), who gave up the (unearned) run, with Frankie Bartow adding two goose eggs, and Jordan Mills pitching scoreless ninth. Combined, the trio gave up four hits, walked two, and fanned four.
Bowie’s Lowther held down the Sens through his six innings, but the BaySox ‘pen was not as effective. Harrisburg got two on in the 7th but couldn’t plate either, then exploded for four runs – all with two out.
Jakson Reetz and David Masters hit back-to-back singles, the latter sending in Ian Sagdal who led off the inning with a walk (the fifth of the night drawn by the Sens). Rhett Wiseman went deep for the 19th time this summer to cut the deficit to two at 7-5.
Luis Garcia got things started in the bottom of the 9th with a leadoff single, but Dante Bichette Jr. hit into a rally-killing double play and Sagdal struck out to end it.
Carson Teel makes his AA debut in a win-or-go-home Game Four this afternoon, opposed by Alex Wells (8-6, 2.95), who beat the Senators three times in three starts in June and July.
