The Grizzlies lost to the Isotopes, 17-7 to resume their race to the bottom of the PCL. Paolo Espino took the loss with the first seven runs (all earned) let in on eight hits and a walk while striking out three over two and 2/3rds innings. Yadiel Hernandez and Matt Reynold both had three hits while Brandon Snyder smacked his 30th HR to lead the Fresno offense.

Harrisburg fell behind 5-1 after three and 1/2 innings and scratched its way back to a 5-5 tie with single runs in the 4th, 6th, 8th, and 9th innings to force extras. Alas, as the free-runner rule is intended, it took just two extra innings to decide this one, 7-6 in favor of Erie. Austin Voth threw three scoreless innings in a rehab start, allowing one hit, no walks, and fanning two. Eduardo Vera gave up five in the 4th but was scoreless for four before turning the ball over to Greg Holland to pitch a scoreless 9th. Bryan Bonnell had a runner thrown out at the plate in the 10th but two runs came across in the 11th. The Sens got one back on Rhett Wiseman’s second single and got Wiseman into scoring position with a bunt single from Andrew Stevenson before Luis Garcia struck out trying to lay down a bunt and Michael Taylor, who tripled, homered, scored twice and drove in two, couldn’t connect for a third time and grounded out to end the game.

The P-Nats broke up the Star Trek convention on the stadium scoreboard with a single run in the bottom of the 8th and got a stress-free 9th from Frankie Bartow for the 1-0 win. Carson Teel went seven full innings for the second straight start, allowing three hits, no walks, and setting down five on strikes. Luis Reyes worked a 1-2-3 eighth and fanned two for his fourth win and it was three up, three down for Bartow for his seventh save. Tablesetters Jack Sundberg and Cole Freeman both reached base three times and were key to pushing Omar Meregildo in as Sundberg singled and Freeman walked to load the bases for K.J. Harrison. It looked like it would be another rally-killing DP until the Dash 1B Jameson Fisher sailed the throw to Johan Cruz at SS. Cruz extended to his full length to prevent the error and still get the out—a magnificent play, really—but it was just enough for Harrison to beat it out and Meregildo to score.
Hagerstown 5 Delmarva 1 – GAME ONE

Start #24 was the charm as Tomas Alastre not only didn’t lose, but went the distance for the first time in his career. His 5th win of the season came in a 5-1 Hagerstown win over Delmarva. Alastre gave up just two hits and two walks over the seven innings, with the one run allowed and six whiffs. Israel Pineda singled twice, scored twice, and drove in a run while Jacob Rhinesmith homered and Phil Caulfield drove in two with a single and a double to lead the Suns offense.

The Suns put on three baserunners but it was the free one that came around to a score for a 1-0 loss to the Shorebirds. Jackson Stoeckinger went the first five and a gave up just two hits, no walks, and fanned four. Alex Troop finished the game and gave up a two-out single to take the loss. He walked none and struck out two over three innings. Justin Connell singled while Cole Daily doubled to comprise the Hagerstown hit column.

Sterling Sharp lived up to his surname for three innings as Auburn prevented a three-game sweep with a 6-2 win in the series finale. Sharp gave up two hits over three scoreless innings in his second rehab start since going on the I.L. in late May. Todd Peterson picked up the win with five innings of one-run relief on two hits and two walks while striking out four. Jake Alu’s grand slam in the 2nd would carry the day while Jeremy Ydens, J.T. Arruda, and Onix Vega each singled twice to lead the Doubledays attack.

GCL Nationals vs. GCL Astros – PPD
Rain has wreaked havoc on the GCL this month with the fifth rainout that will force doubleheaders today and Thursday… weather permitting. The G-Nats are on a modest three-game win streak and trail the G-Marlins by three games in the GCL East with eight scheduled to play.
DSL – END OF SEASON
The D-Nats won three of five in the final week of the season to finish 22-42 – not good enough to escape the cellar of the DSL South but it was five games better than the D-Indians/Brewers co-op. Just two batters were above league average in OPS (.694) – 17-y.o. Daniel Marte (.758) and 19-y.o. (turns 20 in October) Raymi Gomez (.798) and only one pitcher posted an FIP below 3.20 – 19-y.o. Bernado Hiraldo (3.11).
