SSDG – Fresno’s starter turns in his best start of the year (actually, his career), the offense remains AWOL, and the Grizzlies lose in extras, 3-2. Logan Ondrusek, who was making his 13th start of the year (the most since 2007), shut down the Missions over seven innings, giving up one hit, two walks, and a hit batsman, while striking out six. Raudy Read’s two-out triple in the top of the 10th broke up the Star Trek convention on the scoreboard but Derek Self couldn’t keep the free runner from scoring to send the game to the 11th. Carter Kieboom’s second double of the night plated Brandon Snyder to give the Grizzlies a 2-1 lead in the 12th. Joan Baez got two quick outs but then gave up a single to tie, a walk to force the runner into scoring position, then another single to lose.

The Sens weren’t shut out, but they were held to just two hits as the Flying Squirrels evened up the series with a 3-1 victory. Mario Sanchez turned in a quality start of two runs allowed on six hits (one HR) and a walk while striking out three, but lost for the fourth time. Austen Williams gave up the insurance run in the 7th while Brad Boxberger stranded three while cleaning up his mess. Harrisburg scored its lone run on a walk, an error, a stolen base, and a ground out but couldn’t take advantage of the other four errors as they went 0-for-9 with RISP and left on 10 runners.

Potomac extended its win streak to five while rallying for one in the 9th to tie, and two in the 10th to win, 3-2 over Wilmington. Malvin Peña tossed six innings of one-run ball on three hits and a walk while fanning six for the quality start and the no-decision. Angel Guillen got the next five outs with one hit allowed in his Carolina League debut while Hayden Howard stranded one in the 8th and let in the free runner in the 10th for the win, his fourth. Omar Meregildo drew a bases-loaded walk in the 9th to force extras while Aldrem Corredor and Jackson Reetz both went 2-for-5 with an RBI, driving both P-Nats runs with their second hit in the 10th.

Three Tri-City pitchers combined to shut out Auburn, 6-0 on two hits while striking out 13 to send the Doubledays to their fourth straight loss. Todd Peterson was the hard-luck loser with five innings of one-run ball thrown on six hits and two walks while striking out two. The Doubledays firemen brought the petrol instead of the water and got torched for five runs over 2 and 2/3rds before Dylan Beasley stranded three while getting the last out of the 9th. Eric Senior singled and walked twice while Caldioli walked once and had the second hit as the rest of the Doubledays went 0-for-25 with three walks and 10 strikeouts (13 total).
