Fresno’s death spiral took another turn with a 5-1 loss to Nashville – the fourth straight and 14th in its last 17 games. Logan Ondrusek pitched into the 7th and let in two runs on five hits (one HR) and four walks while fanning four. Despite the quality start, his third in four outings, he was charged with his sixth loss. Luis Sardina singled and doubled to lead the Grizzlies’ six-hit assault on Sounds pitcher. Yadiel Hernandez broke up the shutout with a solo HR (#24) in the 4th and drew one of two walks by Fresno.

The Senators took a 3-2 midway through the game, but just didn’t have the sauce to finish off the “Pork Roll” and lost, 5-3 in the opener. Tyler Mapes gave up all five runs (three earned) on eight hits (one HR) and two walks over six-plus innings but lost for the sixth time. Jacob Condra-Bogan was perfect for two innings, stranding two while cleaning up after Mapes. The Harrisburg offense couldn’t score without the long ball, which came off the bats of Rhett Wiseman (#15) and Michael Taylor (#5). Wiseman had his first three-hit game since July 2 and fifth overall this season.

Truth be told, the P-Nats were lucky to force extras as the Hillcats couldn’t take advantage of the numerous RISP chances and four errors in regulation. In extras, Lynchburg savaged Jacob Howell for three runs on two hits and held on for a 6-4 win. Tim Cate technically had a quality start but was barely sharp enough to cut through a butter-soft Hillcat lineup as he let in three on seven hits and two walks over six innings. Jack Sundberg and Gage Canning combined for four hits, two runs, and both threw out a runner on the basepaths to lead Potomac’s ten-hit parade.
Hagerstown 3 Lexington 2 – GAME ONE

Jackson Rutledge earned his first professional win with five shutout innings as Hagerstown edged Lexington, 3-2 in the opener. Rutledge walked two and fanned six while allowing two hits. Drew Mendoza delivered RBI singles in the 3rd and 5th innings to help the Suns build a 3-0 lead after five. Matt Cronin coughed up a run on a HR in the 6th while Pearson McMahan twice gave up a single with two outs to let in second Legends run before getting flyout to end the game.

Jackson Cluff’s 4th HR proved to be the difference as the Suns completed the doubleheader sweep of the Legends with a 2-1 win. Joan Adon ran out of gas in the 5th after allowing Lexington’s lone run on five hits and three walks while striking out five. Ryan Williams finished the game, stranding an inherited runner, to pick up his fourth win. He walked one gave up a hit and fanned two. Jacob Rhinesmith started the scoring with an RBI single in the 1st, the first of two hits for him, four overall for Hagerstown.

A seven-run 2nd erased an early 4-1 Auburn lead as Mahoning Valley cruised to an 11-4 victory and assure a series win. Rafael Gomez bore the brunt of the beating as he was strafed for the first eight runs on nine hits and two walks over an innings and 2/3rds for his fourth loss. Adalberto Carrillo singled, doubled, and drove in a run while Jack Dunn reached base twice and scored once with a walk and a single to power the Doubledays offense.
