The good news is that Ben Braymer is fitting in with most of the Fresno starters. The bad news is those starters are have ERAs of 7.12, 7.52, and 8.83. After giving up all five runs in a 5-0 loss to Round Rock, the reigning co-pitcher of the year has an ERA of 8.53 in seven AAA starts (Wil Crowe, if you’re reading, please don’t ask anyone to hold your beer tonight; you can ruin this narrative with another quality start). As the shutout implies, the Grizzlies offense didn’t show last night in Texas with just four hits and four walks while keeping the Express infielders cool with 14 whiffs.

Rhett Wiseman hit his second HR since being reactivated to lead the Senators past the Yard Goats, 5-2. The 25-y.o. drove in three total while Harrisburg racked up 11 hits, with Ian Sagdal leading the hit column with three singles, followed by Tres Barrer with two. Kevin McGowan ventured north from rehabbing in Florida to spin five innings of one-run ball on three hits and three walks while fanning two to pick up the “W.” After Bryan Bonnell stranded three while getting the last out in the 8th for hold #6, Aaron Barrett tossed a 1-2-3 ninth for save #24.

In a game that featured eight extra-base hits—including Jakson Reetz’s 9th HR to tie it at 6-6 in the 7th—the game-winner came on a bunt single, as Potomac outfoxed Salem, 7-6. Reetz, who also doubled, pushed the free runner to third with a single to lead off the 10th. After a flyout to left that was too shallow for a sac fly, the Red Sox played back for a double play and Gage Canning pushed a bunt past the pitcher toward second base, forcing a throw home that was too wide and too late to get an out. The comeback capped a strong night from the P-Nats ‘pen, as Andrew Istler and Johantan German combined for four and a 1/3rd scoreless innings in relief of Carson Teel, who was strafed for six runs on eight hits (five doubles) and three walks over five and 2/3rds innings.

Auburn took advantage of seven walks and a Victor Robles to overcome four errors and 12 men left on to defeat Hudson Valley, 6-4. Tyler Dyson made his third start and went three innings, letting in one run on three hits and two walks. Fausto Segura was credited with the win despite giving up two unearned runs while Bobby Milacki was awarded his fourth hold with one run allowed over two innings. Amos Willingham pitched two scoreless and fanned four to earn his first professional save. Adalberto Carrillo singled twice, walked twice, scored once, and drove in a run to lead the Doubledays attack.
