The Isotopes secured a sportswriter’s win with four runs in the bottom of the 8th to turn a one-run lead into a 7-2 win over the Grizzlies. Joe Ross turned in his best game of the year with seven innings of three-run ball (two earned) on six hits and two walks while striking out three. He was rewarded with his third AAA loss. Derek Self was torched for four runs on four hits, including an Earl Weaver Special. José “Orange” Marmolejos and Jake Noll both went 2-for-4 with and RBI to lead the eight-hit, one-walk Fresno offense.

Senators starter Steven Fuentes threw five scoreless innings with one hit, no walks, and nine K’s. BaySox starter Michael Baumann was a wee bit better with nine, none, two, and ten. It was the first nine-inning no-hitter for Bowie since 2007, when Radhames Liz shut down Harrisburg’s 55-86 juggernaut. Michael Taylor and Drew Ward were the only two baserunners for the Sens, as each walked once. Roster moves: RHP Austin Voth recalled to Washington; RHP Steven Fuentes activated from 7-Day I.L.
Potomac – OFF DAY
While this season’s Mills Cup race appears to be for which team gets to lose to Down East (unless there’s another hurricane or a coin-flip playoff), Potomac has a chance to make some hay over the next six days with three games at home against last-place Frederick and four games vs. fourth-place Fayetteville. Thanks to the brilliant scheduling of the Carolina League, in two weeks the third-place P-Nats will get one (1) series against the first-place Red Sox – games 7-9 overall between the two C.L. North teams for the 2019 campaign.

The Suns’ modest four-game win streak was halted with a 9-3 HR derby in Greensboro. Francys Peguero has no one to blame but himself as he served up four homers over five innings for eight runs total (five earned) on nine hits and one walk. Six of the eight runs came via the longball as he suffered his eighth loss of the season. Jacob Rhinesmith homered and walked twice to lead the Hagerstown offense, which had just one hit in 11 RISP chances and left on 11 baserunners.
Auburn – OFF DAY
After avoiding a three-game sweep by Stedler Division-leading Lowell, Auburn returns to central New York to take on the Pinckney division-leading Batavia at Dwyer Stadium for two games, then heads back to Falcon Park for a doubleheader on Friday. After 30 games, The Doubledays are two games under .500 (14-16) and four games behind the 18-12 Muckdogs.
