Fresno couldn’t get a hit in ten chances with RISP and it probably cost them the game as the Sacramento took this one, 3-2. Ben Braymer gave up all three River Cats runs on seven hits and a walk. He struck out five while losing for the second time in four AAA starts. Ronald Peña (2IP) and Dakota Bacus (1IP) combined for three scoreless to keep the Grizzlies close. Wilmer Difo singled twice, doubled once, and drove in the final run in the 9th on a sacrifice fly to lead the offense.

It took nearly two months, but the Sens finally won a third straight game (against the same team!) for the first time in more than six weeks with a 3-1 win over the Flying Squirrels. Mario Sanchez tossed six scoreless innings with just two hits allowed, no walks, and seven whiffs to in his seventh AA game. Aaron Barrett stuck out the side again for his 17th save. Dante Bichette Jr., Luis Garcia, and Nick Banks each had two hits to lead Harrisburg’s ten-hit parade.

Dr. Jekyll came to pitch while the Potomac bats stormed France like it was 1940 in an 8-1 win over Fayetteville. Kyle Johnson went seven innings for the third time and gave up the sole run on three hits and two walks while striking out six to win his organization-leading ninth game (FWIW, he’s tied for second in losses with eight). Frankie Bartow mopped up with two scoreless inning. The P-Nats racked up nine of their 14 hits and six runs against losing pitcher J.P. France in three-plus innings. Gilbert Lara and Aldrem Corredor both went 3-for-5 with Lara launching his first Carolina League homer to pace the P-Nats attack.

Three Suns pitchers combined to shut out the Blue Claws on three hits and no walks, 2-0. Reid Schaller went the first five and gave up two doubles and struck out four to win his first Low-A game. Matt Cronin gave up the third hits in the 6th but struck out the side for the hold, his first. Angel Guillen was perfect for three to earn his fourth save. Hagerstown was held to just four hits, with the first run scoring on a error and the second scoring on an Israel Pineda sac fly; both runs came in the top of the 1st.

A five-run third would be enough for the NYPL’s top team as Lowell dropped Auburn, 5-3 in the series opener. Rafael Gomez went the first four inning and gave up all five Spinners runs on six hits (one HR) and a walk while fanning five for his first loss. Evan Lee locked ’em down for the last four with one and one walk allowed. That and $2 gets him a regular at the Dunkin’. Caldioli Sanfler smacked his second HR and two singles while Adalberto Carrillo doubled twice to lead the Doubledays offense.

The good news is that the D-Nats won three of four this week and climbed within a game of ninth place. The bad news is they’re still in single digits in wins and have the DSL’s worst record at 9-23.
