A 7-1 lead proved to be too small for the Grizzlies pitchers to work with as the Rainiers rallied seven runs over the final three innings to win, 8-7. Ben Braymer held Tacoma to a single run, albeit on a HR, through four before he was chased with two outs in the 5th. Dakota Bacus got out of the inning after letting in an inherited runner and then collapsed in the 6th for three runs to earn the blown-save-loss. Brandon Snyder homered twice and drove in five to while Taylor Gushue singled and doubled to lead the Fresno offense.

The Grizzlies got crooked numbers in three straight innings and the bullpen gave up only one run to split the doubleheader with an 8-5 win. Logan Ondrusek got the Jack Morris win with four runs allowed (two earned) on eight hits (one HR) and one walk over five innings for his third win. Brandon Snyder drove in three with his third HR of the twinbill and 18th overall while José “Orange” Marmolejos walked and doubled and scored twice to pace the Fresno offense.

The rains that buffeted DC last night swept through Bowie, ending this one in the bottom of the 5th with one out and a 3-1 loss for Harrisburg, its fourth straight. Mario Sanchez got the complete-game loss with all three BaySox runs allowed on two homers and three hits total over four and a 1/3rd innings. He walked one and struck out eight. Luis Garcia singled and scored the Senators run on Tres Barrera’s sac fly in the 1st. Dante Bichette singled and Hunter Jones doubled to round out the Harrisburg hit column of three.

Jakson Reetz homered in both the 7th and 8th innings and drove in five as the P-Nats prevented the sweep with a 6-1 win in the series finale. Malvin Peña registered his fifth win with six innings of one-run ball on six hits and a walk while fanning three. Aaron Fletcher added two goose eggs to the scoreboard for hit first hold while Frankie Bartow pitched a 1-2-3 ninth. Aldrem Corredor and Gilbert Lara both went 2-for-4 with a double as Potomac racked up 10 hits and three walks total while only fanning three times. on offense.

Delmarva punched Joan Adon’s ticket after eight runs and 40 pitches as they sent Hagerstown to its third straight loss, 12-3. Adon retired just one of nine batters faced, giving up seven hits and one walk for eight runs total. Jared Brasher let in one while finishing the 1st and tossed two more scoreless before giving way to Ryan Williamson, who was savaged for four runs in his first inning before throwing three more to save the ‘pen. Drew Mendoza singled, doubled, walked, scored a run, and drove in a run while Kyle Marinconz went 2-for-4 with a double. The rest of the lineup went 1-for-23.

Rain changed this doubleheader into a single game, which the Doubledays took, 9-3 to prevent the series sweep. Nelson Galindez got the start and gave up two runs on seven hits and two walks over three and a 1/3rd innings. Alfonso Hernandez let in one inherited runner and one of his own over three and a 1/3rd and was credited with his second win. The offense was the real show as Auburn racked up 10 hits and drew four walks and went 5-for-14 with RISP while stranding seven. Jake Alu and Jack Dunn both came off the bench to collect two hits and score a run to lead the regulars.

DSL Update
After teasing us with four wins in the last week of June, the D-Nats reverted to the mean and went 1-5 in the first week of July to drop to 6-22 – one of four DSL teams to have less than ten wins thus far. Two more batters have risen above the league average for OPS (.705) – 18-y.o. C Ivan Murzi (.722) and 17-y.o. SS Isan Castillo (.715), which is almost a surprise considering the team is 44th out 45 teams on offense.
