The “Lowriders” ran out of gas after racing out to a 7-2 lead four innings as the Storm Chasers scored the last six runs of the game for an 8-7 win in the series opener. Kevin McGowan went the first six innings and let in the first six runs on seven hits (one HR) and three walks while striking out three. The loss went to Scott Copeland after Jake Noll’s 12th error allowed the leadoff double to score in the 7th. Brandon Snyder and Andrew Stevenson both singled twice while Taylor Gushue and Raudy Read both homered to lead Fresno’s 11-hit, two-walk attack.

Three Harrisburg pitchers combined to shut out Reading, 3-0 on four hits to even the series at 1-1. Mario Sanchez won for the fourth time in five starts with seven innings pitched and all four Phils hits allowed. He struck out six and walked none. Joan Baez worked around a walk in the 8th to earn his fourth hold while Aaron Barrett pitched a 1-2-3 ninth for save no. 12. Dante Bichette Jr. drove in two with a solo shot in the 2nd and a single in the 4th and drew a walk in the 7th while Luis Garcia singled twice to lead the Sens offense.

The Woodpeckers dropped a four-spot in the 2nd and never looked back as they shut out Potomac, 8-0 on five hits. Nick Raquet lost his sixth game and gave up seven runs (four earned) on eight hits and four walks over four-plus innings. Gage Canning and Osvaldo Abreu combined to go 4-for-9; the rest of the lineup went 1-for-24.

West Virginia welcomed Tomas Alastre back with seven runs in the first four innings as they tripled up Hagerstown, 9-3 to take the opener. Alastre gave up eight hits (one HR) and struck out five while losing for the sixth time. Jacob Rhinesmith led the Suns hit column with three singles while Cody Wilson walked, singled, scored a run, and stole his 20th base.

In the nightcap, the Power outhit the Suns 7-2 and outscored them 2-1 to sweep the doubleheader. Ryan Tapani gave up both West Virginia runs on six hits and three walks over four and a 1/3rd innings though he fanned a career-high seven batters. Angel Guillen stranded one while getting out of the 5th and added two more goose eggs to keep things close. Gilbert Lara led off the 7th with a single for the second and final hit as Hagerstown could not push the tying run into scoring position.
Roster moves: RHP Tomas Alastre activated from 7-day I.L.; RHP Chandler Day placed on 7-day I.L. retroactive to June 14.

The Doubledays scored twice in the top of the 1st before the umpires called the game in the bottom of the 1st. It appears that they’ll pick things back up on Wednesday and play two seven-inning games.

The D-Nats finally won a game on Tuesday. Then they reverted to the mean and went 0-for-the-rest-of-the-week. Just two batters (both outfielders) are above the league average for OPS – 18-y.o. Christopher De La Cruz and 19-y.o. Raymi Gomez and one starting pitcher has an ERA below 4.00 – 17-y.o. José Cedeño.
