Fresno got back to .500 with a 9-4 win over Oklahoma City. Logan Ondrusek gave up the first two runs on eight hits (one HR) over five anda 1/3rd innings. He walked one and struck out two and left with a 5-2 lead that Michael Blazek nearly blew but didn’t. The Grizzlies put the game away in the 9th with the “help” of three Dodger errors. Taylor Gushue doubled, homered, and drove in three while Brandon Snyder singled twice and plated two to lead Fresno’s 11-hit, eight-walk offense.

The Sens broke open a 2-0 game with a four-run 6th and cruised to a 6-1 win over the Phils. Steven Fuentes’s transition to starting continues to succeed as the 22-y.o. spun a six innings of one-run ball on four hits and two walks while fanning seven to win for the second time in three starts. Justin Miller struck out two and retired the side in the 7th on ten pitches, in stark contrast to some other “MLB” rehabs of late. Luis Garcia connected for four hits while Spencer Kieboom finally got off the interstate with a single and a homer to drive in three and score twice.

With the offense taking the night off as it usually does when he pitches, Francys Peguero and the Suns dropped a 6-1 decision to the Shorebirds. Peguero notched his fifth quality start in 12 appearances with two runs let in on nine hits, no walks, and four whiffs over six innings… and lost for the fifth time. Chris Vann put the game away in the 7th as he hit three batters, walked another, and gave up four runs on two hits in his single inning thrown. Kyle Marinconz singled twice and homered to collect three of the teams’s six (6) hits.
SHORT-SEASON UPDATES
• As noted in the comments, the DSL Nationals are off to an 0-6 start despite returning 27 players (12 position players, 15 pitchers) from a team that finished .500 in 2018. Four starting pitchers thus are in their rookie season, and three of them are still teenagers. Both position players with an OPS above .650 are also rookies – 19-y.o. OF Raymi Gonzalez and 17-y.o. C Jeisel Acosta.
• The Auburn Doubledays will open on the road against the Batavia Muckdogs on Friday and Saturday and debut at home against State College next Sunday. The plan is to cover them as per usual on a daily basis.
• The GCL Nationals start nearly a week later than last year (June 24 vs. June 18), so be careful not to read too much into anyone’s presence or absence from the Auburn roster as it may simply be a factor of who’s been signed, who the organization wants to see, or who’s simply healthy.
