Fresno rallied from a 6-0 deficit with the help of a pair of two-run HRs and (*gasp*) three scoreless innings of relief to edge Albuquerque, 8-7. Starter Scott Copeland was nkocked from the box in the 3rd as the Isotopes radiated him for five runs on eight hits and two walks over two and 2/3rds innings. Henderson Alvarez3 stranded two but was also dinged for two more runs over the next three innings. It was still good enough for the Grizzlies to come out of hibernation on offense, led by Alec Keller’s big fly in the 6th to pull within one and Taylor Gushue’s game-winning circle clout in the 7th. J.J. Hoover got the “W” for a scoreless top of the 7th while Derek Self tossed two scoreless to finish the game and earn his third save. Keller, Collin Cowgill, Brandon Snyder, and Matt Reynolds each had two hits in Fresno’s 10-hit effort.

Harrisburg 2 Trenton 1 – GAME ONE

The Thunder got to Sterling Sharp for one in the 1st and then were shut down, enabling the Senators offense to rally in the 6th for two and take Game One, 2-1. Sharp gave up four hits and three walks and struck out five over six innings as he won for the fourth time. Aaron Barrett careered through the 7th, putting on two base runners, but getting the key outs when he needed them for save no. 8. Drew Ward doubled twice and scored once while Tres Barrera and Austin Davidson connected on RBI doubles to power the Harrisburg offense.
Harrisburg 4 Trenton 1 – GAME TWO

Trenton took another 1-0 lead, this time in the 3rd, but lost it immediately as Harrisburg got two in its half of the 3rd and two more in the 6th on Rhett Wiseman’s 11th HR to complete the doubleheader sweep, 4-1. Logan Ondrusek gave up the Thunder run on a home run while pitching the first three innings without a walk or a whiff. Steven Fuentes picked up his first AA win in relief, throwing two and 1/3rd innings and fanning five. James Bourque stranded one in the 6th and cordero’d through the 7th on a single and a hit batsman with two outs before getting a flyout to center to end the game and earn his 6th save.

The Down East Wood Ducks did all they could to give away the game in the 9th and the P-Nats just barely let them for a 4-3 walkoff win. After issuing back-to-back walks, Gage Canning couldn’t lay down the sacrifice and instead reached base as the Wood Ducks got the lead runner at 3rd. Then a wild pitch put the winning run at 3rd base. Instead of walking Nick Banks, who had had two hits already, they pitched to him. Banks obliged with a strikeout. Cole Freeman was walked in favor of Aldrem Corredor. Corredor hit one deep into the 5/6 hole, which Down East stopped and threw to third base in time for the would-be forceout that would have sent the game into extras… but the fielder couldn’t find the bag in time. The sequence made a winner out of Jhon Romero, who loaded the bases with one out in the 9th but got out of the jam. Nick Raquet got the start but was pushed an inning too far as he gave up two of his three runs allowed in the 6th on two hits and two walks (he had had three of each after five). Carson Teel stranded two with the two backwards K’s and five total over two and 2/3rds innings.

While they may have to answer for going for two late, Hagerstown put the hurt on Delmarva for a 15-1 demolition in the series finale. Tomas Alastre spun another scoreless outing for five and 2/3rds innings, scattering seven hits and walking two while striking out six to win for the third time. Ryan Williamson lost the shutout with a run in the 8th while Jared Brasher had a 1-2-3 ninth. Jacob Rhinesmith was a HR shy of the cycle and reached base five times, followed by Justin Connell who singled four times in six trips to the plate to lead the 18-hit parade, despite 12 K’s.
