José Marmolejos homered in 8th to tie the game and Yadiel Hernandez homered in the 9th to take a 4-3 lead, but Jimmy Cordero was up to his old tricks and served up a two-out tying HR to send the game into extras. After both teams failed to score in the 10th, Alec Keller tapped a grounder slowly enough for the runner at third to come home for the game-winning run as Fresno beat Las Vegas, 5-4 in 11 innings. Dakota Bacus put up goose eggs in both the 10th and the 11th to earn the win. Scott Copeland got the start and went the first six, allowing three runs (two earned) on eight hits and three walks while striking out eight. Collin Cowgill also homered and scored the winning run, thought the Grizzlies were a woeful 1-for-11 with RISP and left on 12.

Rain shortened this one to six, but the game was well in hand for the Thunder as they rolled the Senators, 9-3 to even the series between the Eastern League’s 1st-place teams at one apiece. Wil Crowe lost for the first time as he was charged with six runs (five earned) on ten hits and two walks over just four innings. He struck out three. Chuck Taylor connected for his fifth homer while Drew Ward didn’t strike out while singling twice and scoring a run to lead the Harrisburg offense.

Game 13 between Winston-Salem and Potomac went to the Dash, who were able to score seven times without a HR (thanks to eight walks), by a 7-3 count. Grant Borne scuffled through five and a 1/3rd innings, putting on 11 baserunners, but managed to let just three of them score. Luis Reyes made his second straight relief outing and for the first frame, it looked like he may have turned a corner, stranding two while leaving the bases loaded to end the 6th. But in the 7th, the reversion to the mean came as Reyes let in three runs (one earned) to lose for the third time. All three P-Nats runs came on the longball—Telmito Agustin’s 2nd, David Masters’s 8th—to mask a four-hit night by the offense.

Tim Cate dominated the GreenJackets with six innings of one-run ball on just 64 pitches as the Suns took the opener, 4-2. Cate struck out eight and walked as he won for the second time while putting up his fourth consecutive quality start. Ryan Tapani gave one back in the bottom of the 7th after Hagerstown scored three times in the top of the 7th to snap a 1-1 tie but kept Augusta at bay in the 8th for the hold, his second. Jhonatan German struck out the side in order in the 9th to get his third save. Tyler Cropley and Cody Wilson both reached base three times to lead the Suns’ seven-hit, seven-walk offense. Gilbert Lara extended his hit streak to 18 games with a single in the 3rd.
