Fresno rallied for five in the bottom of the 8th to pull away from Salt Lake and stop a four-game slide for a 13-7 sportswriter’s win. The Bees fell a single shy of the cycle as a team as they got to Paolo Espino for a double, triple, and four HR’s and Derek Self for a (you know it) a fifth longball. The damage was minimized by just two walks (Espino) and one error. Yadiel Hernandez also fell shy of the cycle, missing the HR, but drive in five and scored twice while Jacob Wilson and Wilmer Difo both reached base four times with three singles and a walk to lead the Grizzlies’ 14-hit assault.

The Senators completed the sweep of the Fisher Cats and pushed their win streak to four a with 5-1 win. Tyler Mapes scattered eight hits over six scoreless innings, issuing two walks and fanning four to pick up his third win. After a scoreless rehab inning from Jonny Venters, Trevor Rosenthal broke up the shutout with a run on two hits and two hit batsman in a tidy, 27-pitch 8th. The Luises—Garcia and Sardinas—both went 2-for-4 while Austin Davidson singled and walked to lead the Harrisburg offense.

Potomac returned the favor to Myrtle Beach as the P-Nats were shut out 8-0 on six hits to even the series. Andrew Lee was a hot mess with six runs allowed on five hits and two walks over four innings. He also threw two wild pitches and committed two errors. Cole Freeman singled twice and was picked off once while Aldrem Corredor walked, singled, and was thrown out trying to steal to lead the P-Nats attack.

The Suns doubled up the Barves with a 4-2 win but were eliminated from the first-half race. Tim Cate returned to the rotation with five innings of one-run ball to pick up his fourth win. He walked one and whiffed a season low of three. Ryan Williams worked around five baserunners in three innings with the help of DP and six K’s for the hold while Jackson Stoeckinger pitched a 1-2-3 ninth for his 4th save. Cody Wilson and Justin Connell combined to go 4-for-8 with a HR (Wilson) as Hagerstown took advantage of four Rome errors to score four runs on six hits, with just one in five RISP chances.
