Ordinarily, a five-run inning for a starter will get him an early shower. But Fresno answered that salvo with 12 straight runs over two innings to give Scott Copeland the cushion he needed to shake it off and go the requisite five innings. He allowed those five runs on three hits, including a three-run HR, and five walks while striking out two to pick up the Jack Morris win. The Grizzlies buzzed the Bees for four homers – one apiece by Collin Cowgill, Jacob Wilson, Raudy Read, and Carter Kieboom. The quartet combined for nine of Fresno’s 13 hits and 13 of its 15 RBI.

Luis Garcia doubled, stole third, and came in on an Adrián Sanchez sac fly to give Erick Fedde and the Sens a 2-1 win over the Curve. Fedde was a bit more hittable (six) than his last outing
but allowed just an unearned run while walking one and fanning three over seven strong innings. James Bourque kept Altoona off the bases with a pair of 1-2-3 innings to earn the save, his second. Ian Sagdal (single, double) and Rhett Wiseman (double, HBP) were the only two Harrisburg batters to reach base twice as the Curve pitchers held them to seven hits total, with just one in eight RISP chances. Roster moves: OF Zach Collier placed on the 7-Day I.L.; IF Luis Sardinas activated from the 7-Day I.L.

Just when Potomac seemed to be digging itself out of another early hole (4-0 after one), Lynchburg put up another four-spot in the 4th and cruised to a 9-3 win. Kyle Johnston toggled back to Mr. Hyde with seven runs allowed on eight hits and five walks over three-plus innings for his third loss in as many starts. Hayden Howard and Andrew Lee combined for five innings of two-run relief with nine strikeouts. K’s were also in abundance on the P-Nats’ side of the scorebook as the batters whiffed 12 times while compiling seven hits, with Aldrem Corredor and Cole Freeman both collecting two. Roster move: RHP Carlos Acevedo released.

Two of the three runs scored on a sacrifice fly, and it was the Legends that were one better than the Suns, 2-1. Tim Cate turned in his first quality start of the season, allowing one run on two hits and two walks while fanning four. The loss went to Aaron Fletcher who fell in the 8th and couldn’t get up on a double-sac bunt-sac fly sequence in his second inning of work. Hagerstown was limited to four hits, with Jacob Rhinesmith scoring the lone run and collecting the only extra-base knock, did not walk, and struck out 11 times. Roster moves: SS Jose Sanchez placed on the 7-Day I.L.; IF Trey Vickers assigned from XST.
