Jake Noll’s two-out solo HR in the 1st would prove to be enough as Kyle McGowin and Vidal Nuño combined on a 2-0, five-hit shutout of Salt Lake City. McGowin struck out six and walked none while allowing four hits over five and 2/3rds innings to pick up the win. Vidal Nuño3 loaded the bases with one out on a double and two hit batsmen before Cordero’ing out of it with a whiff and a grounder for the save. Colin Cowgill was the only Grizzly batter to reach base twice (single, walk) in the five-hit, three-walk offense.
Fresno 8 Salt Lake City 1 – GAME TWO (Susp., 4th)
Carter Kieboom and Brandon Snyder both homered as the Grizzlies built an 8-1 lead before rain halted play after three full innings. With today being a getaway day, they’ll finish this one in June when the two next meet in Utah.

The Senators starting battery and Austin Davidson were the stars in a 5-1 matinee win. Crowe went six innings for the first time this season and allowed just one hit while striking out five to earn his second win. Tres Barrera drove in all five Harrisburg runs on a pair of homers. Barrera also connected for a single and a double, as did Davidson while drawing a walk to account for six of the seven Sens hits.

Carolina completed the three-game sweep of Potomac with 2-0 shutout on four hits. Kyle Johnston rebounded from a horrific outing in the opener was the hard-luck loser as he turned in a quality start of six innings pitched, one run on two hits and two walks, and five whiffs. The P-Nats offense remains MIA, as they mustered just four hits—none in ten chances with runners in scoring position—and left 12 men on base.

The Suns stopped a three-game slide to end their season-opening road trip with a 5-4 win over Lakewood. Tim Cate got his second straight no-decision as he allowed the first two BlueClaws runs on four hits and three walks over four and 2/3rds innings. He struck out five. Ryan Tapani picked up the win in relief, stranding two in the 5th, while Aaron Fletcher was credited with the save after letting in an inherited run in the 8th and one of his own in the 9th. KJ Harrison and Gilberto Lara combined to go 5-for-10 with two doubles (Harrison), two RBI (one apiece), and a stolen base (Lara) to lead the Hagerstown offense.
