The Grizzlies ‘pen might not have been watching when Wander Suero and Justin Miller imploded in the 10th, but they sure did top them by blowing a 13-4 lead in the 9th for a 14-13 walkoff loss. Jordan Mills retired just one of seven batters faced while Tanner Rainey retired none of three, giving up a single, a walk, then a grand slam for his fourth blown save and second loss in just nine appearances. The disintegration took away a possible win from starter Kyle McGowin, who pitched well enough to do so with 12 runs scored behind him as he allowed four runs (three earned) on seven hits and two walks while striking out four over six frames. Jacob Wilson, José Marmolejos, and Jake Noll each had three hits and combined for nine hits, six runs and 10 RBI to lead Fresno’s 20-hit parade.

Hartford scored in each of its first four ups to easily take the opener from Harrisburg, 6-2. Ben Braymer got his scoreless inning in the fifth and was charged with all six Yard Goat runs on nine hits and two walks. He struck out five. Ian Sagdal and Drew Ward both doubled for the two (out of six total) extra base hits the Sens collected.
Harrisburg 3 Hartford 0 – GAME TWO

Mario Sanchez and James Bourque combined on a four-hit, 3-0 shutout in the nightcap to split the doubleheader. Sanchez went the first six and gave up one walk and three hits while fanning six for his third win while Bourque worked around a one-out single in the 7th with game-ending double play to earn his fourth save. Ian Sagdal doubled twice and drove in two while Luis Garcia singled, doubled, and scored a run to power the Harrisburg offense.

Kyle Johnston was Mr. Hyde again as the Mudcats sent him to the showers after one inning and 2/3rds and eight runs in as they took Game Two from the P-Nats by 13-6 margin. Potomac rallied for three twice in the middle innings, with Osvaldo Abreu driving in four on an RBI single in the 5th and three-run double in the 6th. Jakson Reetz reached base four times with two walks and two singles to lead the nine-hit, four-walk offense.
Greensboro 13 Hagerstown 2

The Suns ‘pen wasn’t quite the supernova like the Grizzlies, but ten runs over the final three innings turned a 3-2 nail-biter into a 13-2 laugher. Tim Cate gave up two solo HRs and three hits total, but still registered a quality start of three runs allowed over six innings while striking out a career-high of eight. Leif Strom gave up two homers in 2/3rds of inning, Jared Brasher, three in two and a 1/3rd as both relievers were charged with five runs. Cody Wilson singled twice and scored on Gilbert Lara’s first-inning double while Lara came around on Jacob Rhinesmith’s subsequent single. The team was held to five hits total and got just one more batter into scoring position over the last eight innings. Roster moves: C Israel Pineda placed on the 7-Day I.L.; C Tyler Cropley assigned from XST.
