It began with Adam Eaton going Rickey Henderson to start the game and ended with Matt Adams’s solo shot with two out in the 4th as the Nats launched seven home runs in an 11-3 win over the Mets.
Jeremy Hellickson gave up single runs in the 2nd (earned) and 3rd (unearned) and five hits total over five innings for this third ST win. He walked one and struck out five.
Victor Robles got the start in CF and went 0-for-2 with a walk and a stolen base (#6) but also committed his third error. With the news that Michael Taylor will be on the shelf, little doubt remains that Robles will both break camp and start in CF on Opening Day.
Three watchlist players came off the bench:
● Carter Kieboom followed Brian Dozier at 2B and struck out in the 8th as second SS
● Jake Noll subbed for Anthony Rendon at 3B and fanned to end the 8th
● Drew Ward walked in place of 1B Ryan Zimmerman with one out in the 9th
The Nats return to West Palm Beach to host the Cardinals. Max Scherzer is slated to pitch and you can see the game on MASN and/or listen to it on 106.7FM.
