The bullpen did all that they could but still managed to hold a six-run lead as the Nats beat the Astros, 6-4 on Sunday afternoon.
Jeremy Hellickson tightened his grip on the #5 starter’s job with four scoreless innings, allowing a walk and three hits while striking out one. Justin Miller and Kyle Barraclough both earned a hold while Trevor Rosenthal cordero’d through the 9th with a run on two hits to be awarded the save.
Luis Garcia doubled his spring hit total to six with a bunt single to lead off the third and RBI knocks in the 4th and 6th innings while getting the start at shortstop. He also scored twice.
Victor Robles, who’s been taking turns with Michael Taylor as the Nats drum up trade interest consider their CF choices also started and went 1-for-4 to extend his hit streak in Grapefruit League games to six. Carter Kieboom singled and drove in a run while getting the start at 2B.
Three watchlist players came off the bench:
● Jake Noll took over 2B from Kieboom and went 0-for-1 with a walk and a run scored
● Jacob Rhinesmith was the second RF and lined out to SS in the 9th
● Jose Sanchez subbed for Garcia and popped up to 3B in the 9th

The Nats head back to Jupiter yet again tomorrow afternoon to face the Cardinals. Max Scherzer is slated to make his fourth spring start against Jack Flaherty, who struck out seven straight, nine total in 4IP in his last outing. The game can be heard on MLB Audio with the St. Louis feed.
