Nats Fall to .500 with Another One-Run Loss; First Cuts Announced

Carter Kieboom’s two-out solo HR broke up the shutout but Jake Noll couldn’t match him as he struck out to end it in a 2-1 Washington loss to Miami last night.

Aníbal Sánchez reverted back to this spring’s mean of Nats starters pitching well, as he walked one, fanned one, and allowed three singles and a double across four shutout innings in his third spring start.

Aaron Barrett was saddled with the loss on Curtis Granderson’s two-out solo HR in the 5th. Erick Fedde gave up the insurance run in the 6th while giving up hits to three of the first four batters he faced.

None of the watchlist players appeared in the starting lineup.
Here’s how they did coming out of the ‘pen and off the bench:
●  Kyle McGowin struck out two while setting the side down in order in the 8th
●  Kieboom went 1-for-2 as the second SS.
●  Noll went 0-for-2 with two strikeouts as the second 3B
●  Luis Garcia went 0-for-1 with a strikeout as the second 2B
●  Jacob Rhinesmith went 0-for-1 as the second RF

The Nats remain in West Palm Beach but will play as the visitors against the Astros this afternoon. Jeremy Hellickson is scheduled to make his third start. The game can be heard on WJFK and seen on MLB.tv (Astros feed).
