Nats Take Second Straight ST Game, 12-2

The Nats scored in five separate innings—putting up crooked numbers in three—as they folded the Cards, 12-2 on Sunday afternoon.

Hunter Jones and Jake Noll both went deep, but the real damage was done by the St. Louis throwers, as they issued eleven walks and two wild pitches while fanning just eight batters. Despite Victor Robles’s presence in the starting lineup, the Cardinals’ pitchers did not hit a batter.

Meanwhile, Erick Fedde tossed two scoreless innings with one hit and no walks allowed while striking out three.

Robles (0-1, R, BB, SF, RBI) was joined by just three presumed starters (Turner, SS; Eaton, DH; Dozier, 2B) as the Nats put Adrian Sanchez (3B), Matt Adams (1B), Andrew Stevenson (LF), and Chuck Taylor in the lineup then sent out the minor-leaguers to take turns at the plate. Here’s a rundown of how the watchlist players did:

Washington remains on the road tomorrow afternoon as they visit the House of Mouse in Lake Buenavista to play Atlanta. Patrick Corbin is expected to make his first start for the Nationals. The game can be heard on MLB Audio (Braves feed).
