With a 6-1 win over now-last-place Buffalo, Syracuse has climbed into 5th place in the I.L. North by .0007 percentage points. Joe Ross won for the second time this season at AAA with one run allowed on five hits and three walks over five and 2/3rds innings while fanning four. The Chiefs got all the offense they would need in the 1st as Victor Robles got the first of his four hits with a bunt single while Jose “Orange” Marmolejos drove in two with a single and Yadiel Hernandez capped the four-run rally with a two-run HR, his eleventh. Roster moves: C Pedro Severino, RHP Austen Williams recalled to Washington; C Taylor Gushue reassigned from Harrisburg.

New rule: Potomac pitchers must throw a complete game on Saturday nights. OK, maybe not, but that’s what Jackson Tetreault did in the opener, allowing an unearned run on four hits and a walk over seven innings. He struck out eight while winning his first Carolina League contest. The P-Nats gave him more than enough run support in a single inning as they sent 12 men to the plate in the 2nd and sent seven of them in to score. The 3-4-5 combo of Tres Barrera, Aldrem Corredor, and Andruw Monasterio combined to go 8-for-11 with two runs scored (Barrera), a double (Corredor), a walk (Monasterio), and four RBI to power the Woodbridge nine’s offense.

In the night cap, an early 2-0 P-Nats lead went up in smoke as the Blue Rocks put up three in the 3rd and four in the 4th en route to an 8-3 win to split the doubleheader. Kyle Johnston failed to follow up a good start with another yet again as he was pounded for seven runs on seven hits and three walks over three-plus innings. He struck out two while losing his second contest. Aldrem Corredor reached base with two singles and a walk and scored a run while Luis Garcia singled and tripled and scored the other two runs to lead the Potomac offense.

Cole Freeman’s grand slam gave the Suns a 4-1 after three innings. It was all the Intimidators after that as they scored ten unanswered runs for an 11-4 win. Sam Held lost for the eighth time as he gave up seven runs on eight hits over four innings. Hagerstown managed just five hits total, with Freeman the sole batter to reach base twice. Roster moves: OF Armond Upshaw placed on the 7-Day DL; C Joey Harris activated from the 7-Day DL.

It was a 3-2 game after right before Auburn put up a touchdown and an extra point in the top of the 9th to which Batavia could only answer with a field goal for a 10-5 win. Francys Peguero went the first five and allowed just a homer without issuing a walk and striking out three for his fifth win. Angel Guillen finished the game but gave up the aforementioned three runs (all unearned in the 9th) but was nevertheless credited with the save. The Doubledays pounded out 14 hits total, with Pablo O’Connor, Wilmer Perez, Kyle Marinconz, and Justin Connell each collecting three. With losses by Mahoning Valley and Brooklyn, Auburn closed to within a ½ game of the division lead and opened up a 1½-game lead for the wildcard over Brooklyn and Staten Island. Thanks to cancellations, it will be impossible for any two teams to have identical won-loss records and several in which a team will miss the playoffs by just a ½ game.
