Syracuse – OFF DAY
After a 4-3 road trip, the Chiefs return home for seven – three against the Iron Pigs, then four against the Red Wings – in their penultimate homestand of 2018.

Reading 7 Harrisburg 6
• Fedde (L, 0-1) 4IP, 4H, R, ER, 2BB, 4K
• J. Romero 2IP, 1H, 0R, 0BB, 0K, HBP
• Kieboom 2-4, R, 2B, BB, 2RBI
• Ward 2-4, 2R, 2B, HR(10), 2RBI
• Davidson 2-2, R, RBI

On the 12.2% chance the big Nats make the playoffs, Erick Fedde was sent to Harrisburg last night for a rehab appearance. He turned in a respectable outing of one run over four innings on four hits and two walks with four whiffs, but the Senators’ bats were AWOL until the 6th and fell one run short, 7-6. Drew Ward doubled, homered, scored twice, and drove in two, as did Carter Kieboom with a singled and a double, to lead the Harrisburg offense. Roster moves: RHP Erick Fedde assigned from Washington for MLB Rehab.

Potomac – OFF DAY
The P-Nats and Hillcats will play each other over the next six games (three in Lynchburg, three in Woodbridge; weather permitting) in what might be a preview of the C.L.D.S. as Lynchburg leads the 2nd-half race by 5½ games with 15 to go. Roster moves: C Adderling Ruiz reassigned from Hagerstown.

Hagerstown 7 Columbia 0
• Held (W, 5-6) 7IP, 2H, 0R, BB, 5K
• Ja. Johnson 2IP, 2H, 0R, 3BB, 1K, WP
• Scudder 3-4, 3RBI
• Freeman 2-4, 2R, 2-2B, RBI
• Meregildo 2-4, 2R, 2HR, 2RBI

Two Hagerstown pitchers combined on four-hit, 7-0 shutout of Columbia. Sam Held gave up two hits and walked one over the first seven innings while striking out five. Jared Johnson walked three but neither hit he allowed could push a runner across. Omar Meregildo homered twice to push his August line to .367/.412/.583 (13G) while Jake Scudder, who’s also been hot in August (.316/.385/.456, 16G) collected three hits and three RBI to lead the Suns’ attack. Roster moves: C Alex Dunlap activated from the 7-Day DL; C Joey Harris placed on the 7-Day DL.

Mahoning Valley 8 Auburn 2
• Tapani (L, 0-2) 2IP, 5H, 3R, 3ER, 2BB, 1K, HR

• Rhinesmith 1-4, 2B, 2K
• Shaddy 1-4, R, 2B, RBI

The Scrappers trashed three Doubledays pitchers to take the first game of the series, 8-2. Ryan Tapani lost for the second time as he gave up three runs on five hits and two walks over the first two innings. Auburn was held to five hits and drew no walks. Jacob Rhinesmith and Carson Shaddy both doubled for the only two extra-base hits.

GCL Cardinals 6 Nationals 0
• P. Gonzalez (L, 1-2) 5IP, 1H, 2R, 2ER, 2BB, 4K, HBP
• Turner 1IP, 0H, 0R, 0BB, 1K
• Chisholm 1-3, 3B, BB
• Sanfler 1-4, 2B

The G-Cards continued their domination of the G-Nats with a 6-0 shutout. Pedro Gonzalez lost despite a throwing five innings of two-run ball on one hit and two walks. He struck out four. Blake Chisholm tripled and walked while Caldioli Sanfler doubled but the rest of the lineup mustered just three singles,
