The Chiefs got four hits from Victor Robles and four RBI from Jose “Orange” Marmolejos, three on a bases-clearing double to highlight a five-run 9th. Harrisburg avoided a shutout but not the loss, 5-1 to Akron to even the series at 1-1. Logan Darnell went the first five and a 1/3rd innings and gave up three runs on six hits and a walk while striking out give but lost for the sixth time. The point was moot as the offense managed just five hits and two walks while fanning 12 times. Jake Noll (two singles) and Drew Ward (double, walk) were the only two Senators to reach base twice.

The Mudcats got to Joan Baez for two runs in the 2nd after a 66-minute rain delay but the P-Nats bullpen shut ’em down to enable a 3-2 comeback win. After facing the minimum in the 1st (issued a walk, but got a DP), Baez was dinged for two runs on two hits and two walks in the 2nd. Taylor Guilbeau, Hayden Howard, and Jacob Condra-Bogan combined for seven shutout innings, with Howard picking up his third win and Condra-Bogan his first save for Potomac. Luis Garcia and Ian Sagdal both went 2-for-4 with a run scored while Jakson Reetz and Jack Sundberg both hit sacrifice flies to pace the offense.

Hagerstown was held to two field goals and gave up two touchdowns for a 14-6 loss to Columbia. Andrew Lee’s control issues resurfaced as he issued five free passes in four and a 1/3rd innings while striking out six. He only gave up three hits, but one of ’em was an Earl Weaver special. David Smith may have been an all-star but did not have his game on, as the Fireflies lit him up for eight runs on seven hits, including two homers, in his Sally Lg. debut. He also allowed both inherited runners to score. Alejandro Flores missed the cycle by a triple and drove in two while Cole Freeman walked once, doubled twice, scored twice, and stole his 24th base to lead the Suns’ attack. Roster moves: LHP Seth Romero placed on the 7-Day DL; LHP Jackson Stoeckinger promoted from Auburn.

The Doubledays survived a late charge from the Muckdogs to win 4-2 and improve to 35-25 – best in the NYPL. Reid Schaller one-hit Batavia for five innings without a walk and four K’s. The “W” went to comeback kid Aaron Barrett, who worked around two hits and fanned three over two scoreless innings. Israel Pineda’s three-run HR in the bottom of the 6th. In the 7th, Jamori Blash came all the way home from 1st base on Nic Perkins’s single to right field to account for the Auburn offense. Roster moves: RHP Jake Irvin, LHP Alfonso Hernandez reassigned from the GCL.
GCL Nationals – OFF DAY
Six games remain in the 2018 GCL Season and the G-Nats would have to run the table just to finish .500, which seems a bit unlikely. Catching the G-Mets for third place (they play today) or staying ahead of the G-Marlins (they play on Wednesday) to avoid finishing last seems a bit more likely.
DSL Nationals Update
The D-Nats doubled up the D-Yankees 12-6 yesterday to get back to .500 at 33-33 with six games left to play, including a doubleheader tomorrow. The D-Nats have not had a winning season since 2014, when they finished 40-30, 8½ games behind the D-Red Sox for third place in the Boca Chica Division. You may recognize a few of the names from that team.
