The Sens’ rally for three in the 7th to take a 3-2 lead was negated by a run in the top of the 9th, but in the next half-inning Daniel Johnson delivered for the third time this season, 12th overall (H/T Sens PR) for a 4-3 win to take the series, 2-1. Cesar Vargas turned in a quality start, allowing two runs on eight hits and two walks while striking out seven. Dakota Bacus got the blown-save-win for the second time with a run let in over two innings. Johnson, Alec Keller, Carter Kieboom, and Hunter Jones each had two hits as Harrisburg strung together 12 total on the evening.

Potomac’s luck/streak ran out with a 4-3 loss in 12 innings to Frederick in the series finale. Ben Braymer got the start and labored through five innings (91 pitches) with two runs allowed on a home run and on four hits total. He walked two and struck out five. The loss went to Jeremy McKinney as he gave up two hits to both batters he faced in the 12th to let in the free runner and put an insurance run on third base. Carlos Acevedo stranded both runners as he retired the next three batters to keep it close but the P-Nats could only muster an infield hit (Luis Garcia’s second single) in the last of the 12th.

After waiting three and half hours to start, the Suns and GreenJackets played past midnight, with Augusta beating Hagerstown, 3-2 in eight innings. Jackson Tetreault struck out a career-high of 11 over five and 2/3rds innings, but also gave up a two-run home run and three hits total while walking three. Hagerstown put baserunners on in seven of the eight innings and racked up 10 hits, but just three came in 15 chances with RISP as they stranded 11 baserunners. The loss went to Jhonatan German on balk with two outs in the 8th after he’d struck out his third batter and gotten a roller to short to push the free runner to third base. Omar Meregildo led the Suns offense with three singles, followed by Kameron Esthay with two. Officially the second game was called on account of “darkness,” which may be the Sally Lg’s euphemism for “it’s too damn late.”

The OJ (Other Jackson) didn’t pitch too badly, either as he spun (and won) his second straight quality start in Auburn’s 4-3 win over Batavia. David Smith, one of six Auburn representatives to next week’s NYPL All-Star game, earned his sixth save though he gave up a run in the 9th. Four different Doubledays drove in a run with Cody Wilson leading the hit column with two singles and a double, followed by Israel Pineda and Pablo O’Connor, who both went 2-for-4.

Anderson Franco’s two-run HR highlighted a three-run 9th as the G-Nats outslugged the G-Mets, 13-11. Niomar Gomez got the start and was strafed for six runs over the first two innings and charged with seven on eight hits over four and 2/3rds innings. The “W” went to Trey Turner, who gave up a run on three hits over an inning and 2/3rds, while Fray Perez shut the door in the 9th with two strikeouts for his second save. Fellow rehab Adrian Sanchez also homered while Wilmer Perez led the regulars with a single, double, and a walk
