Syracuse – OFF DAY
After taking two of three from the Bulls, the Chiefs were swept in four straight by the Bats by a cumulative score of 28-6 over the weekend. Weather permitting, they’ll play four this week in Norfolk and three in Durham before returning to Syracuse on the 30th.
Portland 6 Harrisburg 0
• Darnell (L, 6-5) 5⅓ IP, 6H, 3R, 3ER, 2BB, 3K, HR
• Kieboom 1-4, 2B
• Jones 1-4, BB
Four Portland pitchers combined on six-hit, 6-0 shutout of Harrisburg in the series opener. Logan Darnell lost for the fifth time as he gave up three runs on six hits (one HR) and two walks over five and a 1/3rd innings. He struck out three. Each of the Sens relievers gave up a run but it was a moot point as the team put on 10 baserunners (six hits, three walk, one error) and all ten of them were left on. Reigning E.L. Player of the week Hunter Jones was the sole Harrisburg batter to reach base twice while Carter Kieboom collected the only extra-base hit, a two-out double in the 7th.
Salem 3 Potomac 1
• Johnston (L, 1-1) 4IP, 5H, 3R, 3ER, 2BB, 3K, HR
• Crownover 3IP, 2H, 0R, 0BB, 2K
• Sagdal 3-3, 2-2B, BB, RBI
• Banks 1-4
Ian Sagdal’s 20th double and third hit of the game broke up the Red Sox shutout, but the Salem nine still prevailed, 3-1 in the series finale. Kyle Johnson gave up all three Sox runs on five hits, including a solo HR, over four innings. He walked two and struck out three over four innings. Matt Crownover spun three scoreless innings and A.J. Bogucki kept Salem off the board in the 8th, but the Potomac offense had just one hit aside from Sagdal, a single by Nick Banks with one out in the 5th. Roster moves: LHP Matt Crownover activated from 7-Day DL; RHP Jorge Pantoja placed on 7-Day DL.
Hagerstown vs. Delmarva – PPD
Rain washed away yet another Hagerstown game, but set up an extra-long happy hour a doubleheader on Thursday, which is the next day that it’s not supposed to rain this week.
Auburn – OFF DAY
Yesterday was the last scheduled off day before the NYPL All-Star Break for the Doubledays, as they resume their current road trip with their one and only series against the Tri-City Valley Cats.
GCL Nationals 1 GCL Marlins 0 – SUSP., 4th
• Strom 3IP, 4H, 0R, 0BB, 3K
• Pogue 1-2, R, 2B
• Cropley 2-2
Rain interrupted this midway through the 4th with the G-Nats leading the G-Marlins, 1-0. They’ll finish it on Saturday morning. Roster move: RHP Bobby Milacki placed on 60-Day DL.
