OFF DAY

Durham 6 Syracuse 4
• Valdez 5IP, 4H, R, ER, 4BB, 2K

• H. Jones 2-4, R, HR, RBI

Harrisburg fell behind 5-0 before they went to bat and never threatened for a 9-2 loss to Bowie. Cesar Vargas made the spot start and was charged with five unearned runs on four hits and a walk over four innings for the loss. Hunter Jones and Osvaldo Abreu both left the yard but not with the band as both homers were solo projects. Jones and Raudy Read were the only two Senators with multiple hits. Roster moves: RHP Cesar Vargas reassigned from Syracuse; RHP Wirkin Estevez activated from 7-Day DL; C Jake Lowery placed on the 7-Day DL, retroactive to July 24.

Potomac 10 Carolina 3
• Braymer (W, 6-3) 5IP, 3H, R, ER, 4BB, 5K, HBP
• Bogucki 2IP, 0H, 0R, 2BB, 4K

• Garcia 2-4, R, 2B, HR(1), 2RBI
• Sagdal 1-3, R, BB, RBI, SB(5)

Highlighted by David Masters’s Earl Weaver special, the P-Nats broke out for five in the 3rd to take a 7-1 lead and cruised to a 10-3 win over the Mudcats. Ben Braymer wobbled through five innings (four walks, one hit batsman) but won for the sixth time as he let in just one run on three hits. Luis Garcia also homered and doubled while Ian Sagdal singled, walked, and stole a base – one of four steals, including home plate by Rhett Wiseman as part of a double steal with Telmito Agustin.

Lakewood 3 Hagerstown 2
• Tetreault 7IP, 5H, 1R, 0ER, BB, 8K, 2WP
• Brasher (BS, 2; L, 0-3) 1⅓ IP, 5H, 2R, 2ER, 0BB, 0K
• Meregildo 1-3, BB
• Pascal 1-3, 2B

Hagerstown nursed a 2-1 lead into the 9th but Lakewood rallied for the 3-2 walkoff win on a leadoff triple and back-to-back-to-back singles. Jackson Tetreault put together another gem, allowing an unearned un on five hits and a walk while striking out eight. Jared Brasher worked around single in the 8th but only retired one of five batters faces in the 9th to get the blown-save-loss. Omar Meregildo was the sole batter to reach base twice as the Suns collected eight hits and one walk while striking out 13 times.

Auburn 8 Connecticut 7 (11 inn.)
• Stoeckinger 5IP, 6H, 2R, 2ER, BB, 2K, 2HBP
• D. Smith (W, 1-0) 2IP, 1H, 1R, 0ER, 1BB, 1K, WP
• Daily 2-3, 4R, 2B, BB, SB
• Rhinesmith 2-4, 3B, 5RBI, 2BB
• O’Connor 2-6, 2RBI

After blowing a 4-2 lead to fall behind 6-4, the Doubledays rallied for two in the 9th to tie and two in the 11th to win, 8-7. Jackson Stoeckinger went the first five and spun five innings of two-run ball on six hits and a walk, though he did hit two batters. Tanner Driskill was drilled for four runs over three innings for his second blown save. David Smith picked up the win by pitching both extra innings and allowing an unearned run on a one-out single in the 11th. Pablo O’Connor, Cole Daily, and Jacob Rhinesmith each had two hits to lead the Auburn offense. Roster move: C Tyler Cropley reassigned from the GCL.

GCL Marlins 4 GCL Nationals 2 – COMP.
• Strom (L, 0-2) 8IP, 11H, 4R, 4ER, BB, 6K, HR, 2HBP
• Vickers 1-3, BB, CS
• Quintana 1-3, BB, RBI

Presuming the interns at MiLB aren’t on crack, Leif Strom went the distance by picking up where he left off on Monday in a 4-2 G-Nats loss to the G-Marlins. Strom was charged with all four runs on 11 hits, including a HR, and one walk in eight innings total. Trey Vickers and Jonathan Quintana both singled in the 9th to give the G-Nats their second run and first of the day as the G-Nats were originally leading 1-0 when play resumed.

GCL Nationals 2 GCL Marlins 1 – GAME TWO
• Williamson 3IP, 1H, 1R, 0ER, BB, K, WP
• Jimenez (W, 1-0) 2IP, 2H, 0R, 0BB, 3K
• Galindez (SV, 1) 2IP, 2H, 0R, BB, K
• Wilson 1-3, RBI
• Morales 1-3, R, SB

In the regularly scheduled game, the G-Nats answered the G-Marlins in the bottom for the 1st to tie it at 1-1 and then scored what proved to be the game-winning run in the 3rd for a 2-1 win. Ryan Williamson went the first three innings and gave up an unearned run on one hit and walk. Jose Jimenez got the “W” in relief with two scoreless innings, a feat matched by Nelson Galindez for the save. Jacob Wilson drove in Jose Morales with an RBI single in the 1st while Anderson Fracno bounced out to short with a runner on third in the 3rd for the second RBI.

DSL Update
With an 8-6 loss yesterday and a 2-4 week, the D-Nats finally fell to .500. This week they’ll match up against the Cardinals (Blue), Yankees, and Rockies.
