The BaySox got two in the 7th to tie and walked off the Senators in the 10th for a 3-2 win. Kyle McGowin pitched into the 8th for the first time this season and was rewarded with his fifth no-decision for two runs let in on four hits over seven and 2/3rds innings. He walked none and struck out five. Bryan Harper got the last out in the 8th, turned it over to Derek Self in the 9th, who set them down 1-2-3. He lost in the 10th on a bunt single that moved the free runner up to third and a sacrifice fly that sent ’em in. Jake Noll was the sole Harrisubrg batter to reach base twice with two singles as the Sens went just 1-for-11 with RISP and struck out 14 times. Potomac rallied for one in the 8th and two in the 9th to make this look closer than the 9-4 score suggests. Joan Baez lost for the eighth time and failed to go five innings for the eighth time in 16 starts as he let in four unearned run on three hits (one HR) and four walks over four innings. He struck out three, hit a batter, and threw 86 pitches. Taylor Guilbeau (2IP) and Jeremy McKinney (1IP) both struck out three as they closed out the game with three scoreless innings. Ian Sagdal, Aldrem Corredor, and Luis Garcia each had two hits to pace the eight-hit, three-walk offense.

Jackson Tetreault’s second straight seven-inning outing and Yasel Antuna’s fifth HR were the prime ingredients for a 4-2 Suns win over the Power. Tetreault let in both West Virginia runs on a two-run HR in the 3rd and two hits total as he walked two and struck out six in his third win. Jared Johnson worked around a walk in the 8th for the hold, his first. Frankie “Goes To Hagerstown” Bartow relaxed after Antuna’s 23rd error brought the tying run up to the plate and rolled another grounder to the 18-y.o. SS to earn the save. West Virginia rallied for three in the 8th to complete a comeback from 6-3 down and win, 7-6 over Auburn. Carson Teel got the start and left after three innings, with two runs allowed on three hits (one HR) and two walks, and three whiffs. The loss went to Jhonatan German who imploded in the 8th with three runs allowed on three walks and one hit. Israel Pineda singled twice and drove in a run with an RBI double during the Doubledays’ five-run 6th. Jamori Blash and Phil Caulfield both doubled twice and drove in a run as well to power the Auburn offense.

In the morning matinee, the G-Astros built a 3-0 lead after five, gave up two to the G-Nats in the top of the 6th, and answered with two in the bottom of the 6th for a 5-2 win. Koda Glover was the first of three rehabs to appear in the doubleheader, tossing a scoreless 1st with a walk and two whiffs. The loss went to Carlos Cuello, who was charged with two runs on two hits and a walk while striking out two. Jesus Morales broke up the no-hitter with a single with one out in the 6th. Leandro Emiliani’s two-out RBI double ended the shutout bid while Tyler Cropley’s drove in Emiliani with a single to account for the second G-Nats run and the third and final G-Nats hit.

The G-Nats lumber awoke from their slumber in the afternoon game with a four-run 7th to break a 1-1 tie and split the doubleheader with a 5-1 win. Reid Schaller struck out six over two scoreless innings as the starter. Chandler Day gave up the lone G-Astro run on a homer and three hits total. Alec Maley made the donuts in the last of the 6th and 7th for his second “W.” Blake Chisholm and Trey Vickers both drove in two and reached base twice to power the G-Nats offense. Roster moves: OF Victor Robles, OF Alejandro De Aza assigned from Syracuse for MiLB rehab; RHP Koda Glover assigned from Washington for MLB Rehab.
DSL Update
The D-Nats won four of six last week to remain two games off the pace in the DSL South at 19-12. Viandel Pena, 17, hung a line of .409/.552/.682 last week to bump his season OPS to .914 in 28G. Fellow 17-y.o. Pedro Gonzalez lost his perfect ERA but went six innings on July 3rd to pick up his second win in five GS.
