Syracuse returned home but the offense remained AWOL in a 3-1 loss to Pawtucket, its third straight. Austin Voth got the start and the loss as her gave up all three PwaSox runs on seven hits over six innings, He walked two and struck out eight. Josh Edgin and David Goforth combined for three scoreless to keep it close. Chris Dominguez was one of just two batters to make it to second base, as the Chiefs were held to three (3) hits and one (1) walk.
Harrisburg – OFF DAY
The Senators resume their road trip—on which they’ve gone 3-1—with three against the Fightins in Reading. Harrisburg is currently fourth in the E.L. West, four games off the pace behind Akron.

Potomac made Salem their, um, witches as they dropped seven in the 5th to break a 1-1 tie en route to a 9-4 win. Matthew Crownover labored through four and 2/3rds innings (102 pitches) and fell one out short of getting the “W” as he allowed three runs on four hits and three walks and fanned five. Jeremy McKinney stranded two while getting out of the 5th and let in the fourth Red Sox run on two walks over the final two innings to earn the win. David Masters was the beer man in a 12-hit barrage, which featured Rhett Wiseman’s 12th HR (2nd in C.L.) and two-hit, two-RBI performances from Jake Noll and Jakson Reetz. Six P-Nats were named to the 2018 Carolina League All-Star game.

Two P-Nats pitchers were lights-out* in a two-hit, 4-0 shutout to complete the doubleheader sweep. Combined with a 1-0 loss by Lynchburg, Potomac now holds a 5½ game lead over both the Hillcats and the Red Sox with six days and seven games left in the first half. Ben Braymer went the first six innings and allowed both Salem hits and a walk while striking out six. James Bourque made quick work (yes, that rhymes) as he struck out the side in the 7th. Carter Kieboom homered for the 11th times and had two hits, as did Ian Sagdal and Tres Barrera as Potomac racked up nine hits in the nightcap.

The BlueClaws put the pinch on Matt DeRosier for three runs in the 2nd and cruised to a 4-1 win in the series opener. DeRosier went seven innings and allowed four hits and two walks while striking out six in his fourth loss. Jared Brasher let in the fourth and final Lakewood run in the 8th on a HR. Kameron Esthay’s 6th-inning solo shot prevented a shutout as the Suns were held to just five hits and two walks total.
