Gwinnett 7 Syracuse 1
• Vargas (L, 1-7) 5IP, 6H, 6R, 3ER, 2BB, 0K, HR, HBP
• Torres 1IP, 0H, 0R, 0BB, 2K
• Wilson 1-3, R, BB
• Hague 1-3, BB

The Stripers scored five times in the first two innings and cruised to a 7-1 win over the Chiefs in the series finale. Cesar Vargas lost for the 7th time and gave up the first six Gwinnett runs on six hits and two walks over five innings. He stuck out none. John Simms and Carlos Torres each put up a donut before Austin Adams gave up the final run in the 8th. Chris Dominguez’s sac fly in the 7th broke up the Stripers’ shutout bid. Jacob Wilson and Matt Hague both walked and singled to pace Syracuse’s five-hit, four-walk assault. Roster moves: RHPs Trevor Gott, Wander Suero recalled to Washington.

Harrisburg 7 Richmond 6
• Dragmire 5IP, 11H, 6R, 6ER, BB, 2K, WP, 2-2
• Fleck (W, 2-3) 2IP, 2H, 0R, 0BB, 2K
• Collier 1-4, R, BB, HR, 3RBI
• Gutierrez 1-5, R, HR, 2RBI
• Gamache 2-5

Kelvin Gutierrez smacked the second of two HRs in the 9th to complete another comeback from five runs down as Harrisburg edged Richmond, 7-6. The longballs masked a terrible outing from Brady Dragmire, who gave up all six Flying Squirrels runs on 11 hits and a walk over five innings. Relievers Bryan Harper and Kaleb Fleck both turned in two scoreless innings, which earned the latter his second win; the former remains Bryce’s big brother. Zach Collier also went deep, hitting a three-run shot in the Sens’ four-run 6th while Dan Gamache led the Harrisburg hit column with two singles in five trips to the plate.

Potomac 7 Lynchburg 1
• Mapes (W, 5-1) 7IP, 5H, R, ER, BB, 5K, PO @ 1B
• Howard 2IP, 0H, 0R, 0BB, 2K
• Noll 3-4, 2R, BB, HR, 2RBI, SB, E(5)
• Keller 2-4, 2R, 2-2B, BB
• Kieboom 2-5, R, HR, RBI, SB

Seven strong innings from Tyler Mapes plus three solo HRs powered the P-Nats past Lynchburg, 7-1. Mapes allowed the lone Hillcats run on five hits and a walk while striking out five in his fifth win. Hayden Howard mopped up with two perfect innings and two K’s. Jake Noll, Carter Kieboom, and Jack Sundberg each went deep while Noll went 3-for-4 with two RBI to pace the Potomac attack. Coupled with another Salem loss, Potomac now leads the C.L. North by 3½ games with one week and nine games slated to play.

Hagerstown 4 Delmarva 3 (11 inn.)
• Alastre 6IP, 7H, 2R, 1ER, BB, 4K, HBP, WP
• Fuentes (W, 1-1) 4IP, 1H, 1R, 0ER, BB, 3K
• Corredor 2-5, BB, RBI
• Banks 2-4, 2B, BB

Aldrem Corredor’s RBI single in the 9th sent it to extras and two Delmarva errors by Billy’s nephew in the 11th gave Hagerstown a 4-3 win. Tomas Alastre went the first six innings and allowed two runs on seven hits and a walk while striking out four. The win went to Steven Fuentes, who went the last four innings and let in the free runner in the 11th with the “help” of the Suns’ fifth of six errors. He struck out three and walked one. Corredor and Nick Banks combined for four of the six Hagerstown hits and two of the six walks drawn. The Suns still trail the Crawdads by two games in the race for 6th place in the seven-team Sally Lg. North.
