The Senators stopped their imitation of the Chiefs with a 3-2 win in 10 innings and prevented a five-game sweep by the Curve. Tyler Mapes tossed six innings of one-run ball despite walking four (one intentionally) and throwing three wild pitches. Roman Mendez, who worked around a hit in the 9th, got the “W” while Dakota Bacus kept the free runner at 2nd as he sandwiched a popup between two whiffs for the save. Austin Davidson doubled, tripled, and scored a run while Carter Kieboom walked, singled, doubled, and drove in a run to lead the Harrisburg offense.

Rhett Wiseman’s solo HR with two out in the 9th put Potomac past Down East, 2-1 and tied the five-game series at 2-2. Ben Braymer turned in his third quality start with the Wood Ducks run let in on six hits and walk while fanning eight. James Bourque walked two in the 8th and gave up leadoff single in the 9th but kept Down East off the board to win his third game. Wiseman’s HR tied him for the Carolina League lead at 14 with Bobbie Dalbec and the farm-system lead with former prospect Juan Soto. Jack Sundberg singled four times to lead the P-Nats hit column.

The BlueClaws ripped the Suns ‘pen for five runs over the last three innings to turn a 2-2 tie into 7-4 win. Seth Romero pitched into the 5th for the first time this season but needed 88 pitches to get 14 outs. He gave up two runs on six hits and struck out four. Carlos Acevedo stranded a runner getting the last out of the 5th ut gave up a one-out solo shot in the 6th which tagged him with his fourth loss. Hagerstown took advantage of four Lakewood errors to score four times on just six hits and two walks, highlighted by Armond Upshaw, who had one of each and scored a run, and Luis Garcia, who singled, doubled, and also scored a run. Roster moves: C Jeyner Baez placed on the 7-Day DL; C Alex Dunlap activated from the 7-Day DL.

Auburn ran its win streak to four and got back to .500 with a 14-9 win over Batavia. Washington’s 2nd Rd. pick Tim Cate made it through the 1st unscathed but not in the 2nd as the Muckdogs got to him for two runs (one unearned) in his pro debut. Nelson Galindez got the benefit of the official scorekeeper’s ignorance of Rule 10.17(c) instead of Angel Guillen, who had to settle for his second hold with three innings of one-run relief. Jacob Rhinesmith lead the Doubledays’ 17-hit barrage with four singles, followed by Jose Sanchez, who drove in two with two singles and a triple. Roster move: LHP Tim Cate (2nd Rd., UConn) assigned from Washington.

Rain stopped play for five minutes before the umpires decided it’s time to beat the early-bird traffic to call the game for a 2-0 G-Nats win over the G-Marlins. Carson Teel threw threeprefect innings before giving way to “OT” Turner, who put on two with a single and a walk then struck out the side in the 4th. Bobby Milacki, who was the more effective reliever, got the win by retiring all five batters he faced. The G-Nats collected four singles and a double, scoring twice in the 3rd.
